What does NG mean in this coin?

Those are counter stamps, from a dealer or shop or individual who may have been advertising their store or giving them out to people. It could also just be some individual testing his punch stamps on the coin. either way Counter Stamped coins can be really exciting to research, I have had plenty of really neat ones that ended up being worth more as they were attributed to the original counterstampee. A great example of this is the Joseph Patenaude Canada Silver Dollars. Really neat history highly suggest reading into it.
