I haven't seen many of these at shows. What would collectors look for in one of these and what would be starting prices for no problem notes?

  • I've seen pieces of those go for hundreds. If it is a whole note with any paper life and color it should be a good deal.

These come in a variety of grades and are very popular due to the marbled left edge. Because of this, the brightness of the color as well as the size of the marbled area both play a significant factor in value. Problems are pretty common on these, too, so problem-free examples command significant premiums.

Virtually none of these are found totally problem free......almost all of them have some minor splits or restorations if not even bigger problems. If the note is less than Fine it is probably not such a great deal. It really depends on what it looks like and what degree of problems hinder it.
