Help with a new massive collection

One of my friends recently asked me to look at a massive mainly foreign stamp collection. He said someone looked at it before and told him that he had some really good stamps. How do i go about helping him assess and determine value?

Unless you are a true expert in the stamp field with CURRENT knowledge of the market you should avoid getting involved with the bulk of the collection. The "really good stamps" are the only thing worth bothering with. If they are "really good" enough for a major auction to be interested in them then a major auction will be the way to go.
