Desperately Seeking 1940 1 Kurus (Turkey)

I've all but given up - I have even sent cash to someone in Turkey hoping for the mail back of this coin from their version of Ebay (where several are listed but it's difficult to communicate and against policy to sell off the site where shipping is only allowed local). A scalloped-edge 1940 penny from Turkey seems the impossible dream. Months ago one arrived on Ebay but I was not around. Boooo!!! I am attempting to complete the coins minted in 1940 for a gift for my mother-in-law. Sentimental value = I will over pay. Any help or direction is appreciated!! You would think that a coin with a mintage of almost 7,000,000 in 1940 would be in plentiful supply. Equally, it's apparent scarcity should make it worth more than $5.00 in XF.

If anyone is every interested, after a year I ended up working with a seller on the Turkish Ebay and sent cash and did get what I wanted in the mail - it took about 2 months (my cash must have been held for a while, his post took time). I thought the I just threw away $25 (it's worth $5 max, but I was desperate and gave a couple more bucks to cover any post issues on the seller end). I was finally able to complete a 1940 set of circulated, decent condition coins - and the set of 5 sits in the living area of my mother-in-law. (-: I think she genuinely liked it...

Congrats! It feels good to get what you are looking for.
They waited for the cash to clear.
Congrats on completing the set.
Congrats! The challenge makes the collecting all the sweeter!
Glad you found them. I had several coins close to the date and denomination but no exact matches.
