Registry people can you see this?

A NON TPG company or organazation(sp) fielding a registry set list using both top TPG services.
They would not have any concern which holder a coin is in!
What are your thoughs?

What would you see their business plan being? Ad revenue?
I could see someone doing it, but it would be intensive, imho, and anyone doing it would likely need to find a way to finance it.
So, in reality, I don't see a strong possibility of it...but it is possible.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I think that someone in the hobby just may step up..
It is about time that the interest in the hobby may come before a finance interest.
Our hobby NEEDS more collectors NOT flippers.
Sometimes wishes come true.
Tis the seasons for wishes to come true!
"Our hobby NEEDS more collectors NOT flippers."
I don't understand how that sentence fits in with the premise of the first post.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
TomB you are correct
It was just a random statement
Sorry
Just added my last PCGS coin for my sets ATS. I would welcome the opportunity to compete using both TPG.
I'm thinking Heritage could be someone to pull it off.
Just saying....
And, I would be in if someone does it. I'll never have the top set...but I like the accounting and tracking capability for organization, if nothing else.
No interest here.
Yeah, Heritage has enough clout & computer expertise to pull it off. It would automatically link you to potential upgrades in their auctions too.......
They could make it as simple or all-encompassing as they'd like.
I would like to see a company like Great Collections take on a multi coin Registry. It would add traffic to the web site, It could generate additional sales by adding a small point bonus for coins purchased at GC or other types of promotions would be a natural. I would be ok if it was the top 4 TPGs if points were based off of coin value.
It would be an enormous, costly effort.
It's fine to think it could be automated, and self-managed. But the fact of the matter is a lot of effort is necessary to maintain and grow registries, and validate qualifying coins.
I have no doubt NGC devoted significant manpower to PCGS coins. I know I've chewed up dozens of hours of their time, getting varieties in PCGS holders into appropriate NGC registry slots. Long story.
I'd like to see it, but I don't see it happening.
Lance.
So some see this happening and others can't see it at all.
And I am sure there are some in the middle.
I think that one of the big juggernaut companies or organizations can and will do it and be able to pull it off.......it's just a matter of time and it would be great for the hobby.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

What about a monthly/yearly fee for competitive sets as a source of revenue?
As I typed the sentence out, I immediately thought of .... the ANA. I wonder if they'd be interested. It'd definitely get more people to pay yearly dues. I think it'd actually be kinda cool and they might have the ability to connect to TPG for data. Perhaps, the TPGs could license their cert/pop data to the ANA for a registry? Hmmm...
This has been talked about by other people in the hobby.
Yes. Heritage is a natural for having this given their IT infrastructure. Just a matter of time before they announce it, if you ask me.
The Society of Silver Dollar Collectors has this already for VAM collectors. PCGS, NGC, or ANACS coins with sets defined as the club, or even just a couple users, sees fit. Even raw coins are allowed if reputably attributed, but the points awarded are heavily discounted from slabbed coins. All listed VAMs are available for set definition and set building. The goal was to not have to worry about whether a TPG wanted to deal with difficult attributions of what most consider trivial varieties.

Since Heritage probably wants to foster a GOOD relationship with the TPG's....I'm wondering if they would shy away from stepping into something they have already established?
(Engineers probably shouldn't be thinking about marketing...it'll just give me a headache).
