The question here is whether the BP is excessive- essentially whether the fee paid is worth the cost. Where is all this fee going? Is it going to improved imaging, better software technology, improved customer service, more staff, better descriptions on lots, better provenance research? Or is it going to more profits?
If the increased bidder fee improves the auction experience then it is reasonable. If not, then it isn't.
