  • PSA if you want to sell, BGS to collect. I would get BGS if it was already graded though. They grade to hard.

Not the greatest question to ask on a pro PSA board. Majority of the people here are PSA die hard collectors. I collect from both companies but do notice that a BGS card does average alittle more than a PSA card. If I was building a set, 100% I'd go with PSA. But if I was looking for a rare RC in high grade, I'd go for BGS. Both are fine.

Shouldn't this post be PSA IS GREAT? This discussion had already happened on the other message board at least a dozen times. The consensus is that PSA is better for vintage because of their experience (and set registry) and BGS is better for modern since they are very tough.

Also it is a fact that BGS modern cards get more than PSA modern. Check ebay.

  • PSA for Vintage, BGS for modern is a decent guidline. I treat them both equally for modern though.

The only thing I don't like about PSA is their thin holder they use. BGS uses a very thick sturdy holder. PSA has a slimmer weaker holder. I've had a few cards in PSA holders come mailed to me from won auctions broken. I've never had a BGS card arrive broken.

Other then that I feel they are both great products.

I have had quite a few PSA cases crack on me in shipping....5 were damaged and 1 lived to be reholdered at the same grade. As for BGS, I've had one card get damaged and it looked like a mack truck ran it over 10 times. The case split in three yet the card was not damaged! I couldn't believe it made it through such a beating. The guys at the Beckett table (last show) were amazed that the card was not damaged and offered to reholder it at no charge. PSA did charge me a reholder fee which kinda sucked....

I don't like graded cards period. The only thing I like about them at all is that they are protected really good usually. they should offer a service just to slab the cards. I would pay a couple bucks for that. If I had to chose between the two I would go with BGS.
