Ebay bucks "more flexible and beneficial" new changes
Starting on January 1, 2017 some new eBay Bucks changes will be taking effect and we're excited to share them with you. We want to make sure you're always in the know as we continue to improve and expand the program. We think these latest changes will make Bucks even more flexible and beneficial for all of our loyalty members.
Here is a list of the upcoming changes and new benefits:
• Base earnings are changing from 2% to 1%, now with more ways than ever to earn eBay Bucks.
• From car parts to copiers & you can now earn rewards for shopping in the Parts & Accessories and Business & Industrial* categories.
• Earn Bucks when you sell. We’ll be adding occasional promotions so you can also get rewarded when your items sell on eBay.**
• No more $5 minimum earn restrictions for redeeming—now you'll receive your rewards, no matter the amount.†
• Sign up for promotional emails and get invites for special bonus offers.

Zzzzzzzzzzz.
"Base earnings are changing from 2% to 1%"
How is this flexible or beneficial?
They've detailed the changes for ebay bucks earned from purchases; I'd like to know more about the ebay bucks program from the selling side of things that is being introduced.
No kidding. probstein and pwcc must be loving the thought of this. They basically consign for a larger percentage overnight. I am sure there must be a monthly cap once the details comes out?
I can imagine how this was talked over during meetings:
"We're giving away too much money with this eBay bucks thing, so let's change earnings to 1%. That should be just fine"
-"But how are we going to call this a positive change?"
"Well, let's call it more flexible and beneficial, and we will add the ability to earn in obscure categories many people don't use"
-"It still sounds like a negative change to me"
"Eureka! We mention we're going to offer eBay Bucks for sellers as well, but limit them to once a year to certain categories individual sellers have never used before"
And the eBay team left happily satisfied for the day, knowing they did good for their bottom line.

Let's the Shilling begin (continue)
For those who read here regularly, the impending changes were rather obvious considering how many of us have already posted regarding the sudden disappearance of our multipliers after 2015. Other folks received them, presumably as another test for development's sake, and they now seem to know how the users operate while collecting bonuses. Expect a reduced amount of easy perks, but still I believe these "Flash" offers will remain in place, which, if you use enough opportunities, it's similar in the potential for savings. So an old go-to gets new skin. Meanwhile, I get around to making a purchase the other day and pay instantly. A short time later, I read here about the $15 coupon. Sigh. It's getting trickier.
Big time buyers should be ticked. I used to struggle to hit $5 until I started selling more and flipping a bit. It would be nice if they did more promotions like the current holiday selling one.
I agree it is laughable that eBay called this a "more flexible and beneficial" change. I suppose it could certainly be more flexible but beneficial seems a stretch to the end user. Since I haven't received eBay Bucks promos since the start of 2016 this doesn't seem to be any better for me and seems to be significantly worse as I will now accrue 50% of the base earnings in 2017 (which is they only type I got in 2016) that I received in 2016. Not good times.
This is terrible news to me. The x4 and x5 promos will only b 4-5%. Will 100% affect my bidding amounts.
I've noticed over the last few months (maybe longer) they've gone away from the multiplier promos... just checking my last 6 or 7 since September, they've stated percentages (8% or 10%). So hopefully we'll still get the same bonus offers, they'll just use percentages instead of multipliers.
I hope so. Ebay bucks have become a big part of my bidding habits.
My 2 cents...this is bad for BIN sellers. In many cases I'm not making my buys without the Bucks/Promos to bring prices more inline with reality/VCP. And 1-2% not a huge deal. It's really about the multipliers (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x). Are those now expected to be 4,6,8, & 10? Auctions a little different. While I bid what works for me (in last 3 seconds), the timing of bucks multipliers with end time of auctions can sometimes effect the size of my bid/snipe.
That being said, I'm happy that I'm at the point in my collection where there are only a few items I "need", making the change less of an issue. But when I was in accumulation mode, this would a stung a bit more.
I sent them a thank you letter. I love getting screwed.
I use my eBay bucks to buy shipping supplies (labels, toner, plastic bags, fragile stickers, et cetera) and always have about $150 to $200 to spend, so I'm bummed that this will be cut basically in half. Hopefully they keep the 8% promos.
eBay buck earnings have been capped in the past at $500 per quarter.
It doesn't really affect me since I don't spend much money. It's annoying how they are spinning it as a positive.
eBay has done this many, many times over the years. They try to get you amped up about something that will have a negative impact on you. They must have recruited their PR team from the circus.
I'm lucky I purchased a lot on the 8% deal last week and now have over a hundred dollars in eBay bucks! My high used to be around twenty so it's probably my fault. All the changes on Flea-Bay seem to take place after I have figured out how to use them to my advantage. If you save your Bucks until the last day or two you can sometimes use them with another eBay sale.
Dennis88 that was a great post!
Note to self - buy any high end cards I need by Dec 31
At least not ALL the changes are for the worse (no more must have $5 in Ebay Bucks) but now we will only earn half as much Ebay Bucks. This is so irritating when for at least the second year in a row Feebay does when they do their deceptive "changes" title and of course it's mostly for the worse. :P

I'm sure all thise big spenders earning under $5 are now going to go on crazy spending sprees...to use up that under $5 coupon
For the first time in a couple of years, I received an 8% bonus bucks coupon last night, good until midnight tomorrow. It would be nice if they offset the reduction in accrual by offering the promos to more users.

I was wrong about going from 2% down to 1%
With all the 8-10% promos I've blown by my usual quarter month amount
Keep it up ebay!
yup. hit the $500 max..now have not been receiving the promos...not that it matters
That's why you should have multiple user ID's. When one hits the max you just use another. That and being able to cherry pick listing mistakes anonymously.
And my new ID, created for this purpose, didnt get fhe offer!
