Both of my Walkers have damage on the first L in dollar.
I just opened up my two 2016 Walking Liberty's and the L in dollar has damage to it. It looks like it was in the striking process and not damaged later. Should I send these back or is this a non issue?

I guess when you view them that you will always see that flaw. Send em back.

Since "both" of your gold Walker's have the same issue I would say that without question it is not a "mark." There may have been some foreign material on the die or a damaged die. Might this possibly develop some sort of collector interest??

I'm curious if this will effect the grade. I cant really see it except under magnification. If it is some sort of flaw that will make it worth more I don't want to send it back

Probably a common, insignificant flaw, since both have it. I bet that others have similar micro imperfections, too.

If you noticed it, and are like me, it will bug you as long as you own them. Send them back.

Yeah, send it back.
A coin less than a month old ought to be perfect.

If you have to use magnification to see it, then it likely isn't a big deal.
If it bothers you, send it back while you can still get replacements. Most coins will have some flaw very visible under magnification
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Disappointing to hear. I have had made numerous gold coin purchases over the last few years only to be very disappointed in the quality control. Grease spots, scratches and stains. Sent most of them back. On two occasions the coins I got back were worse than the ones I sent back. One gold Kennedy started to spot 1 year later in the PCGS holder. I haven't purchased one of these, I'm leery because of the quality of my past purchases and the falling price of gold. Plus, I can always get a 69 or 70 that is holder at a later date and save me the trouble of sending them back for a refund/ return. If your not happy you may want to consider sending back to the USM. Good luck whatever you decide.

They don't call it "modern ____ " for nothin'. Return it with a nasty gram.
Wouldn't the damaged planchet make the coin more valuable?
No
I wish I could muster more interest in the new mint issues, but I have become far too jaded.
I have a couple of these. I looked at them and discovered that some have the flaw on the LL's in DOLLAR and some do NOT.
ALL of them show to small pits near the rim between R and T on the obverse.
Of the ones that i have that do not have the flaw on the LL's...they have some sort of small cuds on the rim below 2016.
I received mine today. I don't see any of the issues mentioned above. Consider myself lucky on the half and quarter. Not so on the Merc. Staining in several areas on the obverse. Mint worker probably just got of break after eating Fritos. LOL
