1917 Yunnan General Tang 50 cents

1908 Kwangtung 10 Cash

1906 Empire 10 Cash

1907 Fengtien 20 Cash (The copper Y-11F not the more common brass)

1903 Kirin 10 cash (es)

    I love Chinese cash coins!

Love the chocolatey goodness of your 10 and 20 cash, especially the copper.

Where do you buy yours? I'm always afraid of fakes.

actually I get from several dealers in Hong Kong and China. I do try new sources but only if they guarantee authenticity. I've had a good run with them I've got several nice raw pieces at a fraction of the price.

I live in Hong Kong and am putting a large empire and republic set together for my daughter.

Usually the more common 10 and 20 cash you don't have to worry about fakes. the uncommand and silver ones are directly opposite and you find more fakes than real.

Then with the silver 1/2 and 1$ pieces even if real most are cleaned. The copper ones tend to pick up corrosion in various stages.

I just got the one below Saturday evening in the mail and those are the blow and after pictures. I used olive oil and a toothpick. It tends to help removed the surface corrosion without marking the coin as long as it hasn't started to pit the metal.

Well, you have my attention now. How far back does your empire collection go?

Mostly just Qing dynasty pieces but I do have some Han dynasty and others scattered. I don't really pick up too many cast coins due to the ability to authenticate is much harder. Most of mine are cash coins and some silver pieces.

this is a common Y303 1920 10 Cash but upon reviewing the photos I noticed it was a Double Die primarily in the words Republic of China

Nice 1914 Manchuria 20 Cents. Show us some silver dollar that you recently bought from HK if you have any. Thanks.

  • Nice condition, especially for copper
