Might need 30-40,000 orders for a sellout considering can order 1, 2, or 3. Around 14,000 orders in first half hour.

I ordered one at 2:30 EST with the order number of USM046594XX so it look like about 20,000 have been sold so far.

perhaps they will be more cheaply purchased on ebay in a few days....
Spelling and grammer doesn't seem to be our strong suit here on the forum.
it will take a month or so to get below mint issue pricing, and may not get there anytime soon if at all.
Have you seen any gold Mercs or SLQ's selling for less than issue? I haven't, but I have not been looking.
Order #USM046374XX Couldn't have taken 15 seconds start to finish
Order # USM046634xx
No problem at all. So what's the count up to now?
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Yup, I can buy a MS63 $10 Lib. for the same price.
Does that mean 20,000 orders or a 20,000 piece estimate?
This thread was supposed to contain order information helping us to determine sales volume and perhaps collector interest. Granted, this is open to both objective and subjective analysis. Does petty opinion of those who wish to paint the purchase of this product as something unreasonable or of poor judgement have value or a place in this thread? This is sadly placed against those of us who genuinely "like and appreciate" the historical and esthetic value of this coin. It seems designed to make us question our decision to buy or is it to bolster someones low self esteem? My decision to purchase was not based on popular consent or the immediate profitability of a flip but rather, I simply love the Walking Liberty design. Sorry to rant, but why?
20,000 orders. Could be 60,000 pieces if every order was for 3, but most likely not. I'm sticking with my WAG of 30,000 pieces ordered give or take.
Agreed. If the Mint received 20,000 orders and reasonable speculation might include 25% of those orders placed were 3-coin orders then we are at your target of 30,000 pieces sold. A good start. Personally, nothing would make me happier than if 50,000 pieces or less are sold before the product is pulled. Never mind, I'm dreaming. This is a beautiful coin. I hope everyone that wants one, gets one!
why don't you just skip the ones you don't like, like this one?
I like to follow what my mother used to say: "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" or words to that effect. What's the point of posting on a thread that wants to help with order quantity guessing by soliciting order numbers with negative comments and putting down those who like and ordered the coin? For a brief feeling of superiority because you didn't fall for the evil mints plot? Can't stand the design? Don't like the premium? There are threads where you can complain and bash to your hearts content. Go for it. I've done some bashing my self in threads that are appropriate for negative and positive posts, like opinions on Stupid Post. Leave threads like this to those who want to post in the spirit of the thread. Why are you reading a thread like this in the first place if you didn't order and have no intention of ordering?
I suppose because I purchased this item and posted early in the thread where my order number fell....... You don't have to be a math professor or a rocket scientist to figure that one out!
Official 1st day sales mintnewsblog.com/
"The U.S. Mint reports that the Walking Liberty Centennial Gold Half Dollar sold 43,728 units on its first day of availability."
Just ordered one 5 minutes ago, all I could swing. USM046690XX, no problems in n out 2 minutes, first try too.
This has bugged me to the nth degree. Am I odd or does it bother you too?
Why do members post xx to their order #s? possible id order theft or??? Are there ways to id customers etc using exact order #s?
Curious or odd mind wants to know....
I'm guessing they are afraid that someone will use the information to cancel their order.

with enough forum familiarity, and with the past order system, there were past orders cancelled by "unauthorized" parties when full order numbers were posted. The order system from 2009 only needed an order number and last name to get you to an order status with a cancel box.
it may still be possible to do an "unauthorized" cancel if one can be convincing on the phone.
anyway, the last 2 or 3 digits are unimportant when talking thousands of orders.
As has been stated, in the past the US Mint website allowed one to cancel an order by knowing the full order number and the client's name. For in-demand items that sold out quickly, this could prove problematic. Therefore, some years ago many folks switched to using an X for the last few numbers of an order.

4670xxx. Just now.
Where can I look to see what current amount ordered is?
Check above for some results. Mint News Blog reported on first day sales. Tuesday the mint publishes the Production and Sales report. A current running total of units sold? Not available. They did run a running total up dated daily for a couple items a few years ago but not as an ongoing thing. Would like them to for high interest items but don't expect the mint to be responsive.
