New usps tracking?

I've been seeing a change in usps tracking, instead of providing current place where the parcel is I get "In Transit to Destination". Are others getting this, and why the change?

Yes! As a matter of fact I have an item currently en route that took 7 days "in transit to destination" to go from Detroit to Allen Park, MI.
While that is about as close to stationary as you can get, technically I suppose it was 'in transit".
If the message is arrived at Podunk, Iowa then you can assume it's there. Once it says departed Podunk, Iowa then you can assume it's "in transit" tho it seems to be duplicitous to mention it. They've been using that message for quite awhile now; it's hardly a new wrinkle.
I noticed that a few days ago. It is a new update designation as previously when an item was in transit and there was an update on the site, it would also state the location of the item at the time of the update.
I am also seeing updates with the location so it's not something they are using all the time when a package is en route.

It's new to me. I've never seen it prior to the current eBay item I'm waiting for. I thought the damn thing got lost somewhere because it indicates a specific date & time of the scan but no location where the scan took place. Glad you posted this thread so now I know.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I wonder if it is something to try to combat some package theft with the upcoming holiday season....?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Or perhaps the PO gets many unnecessary complaints about the paths and locations of packages en route? "Better to just keep them in the dark".
