Centering on PSA graded cards..

It appears like a near perfect centered (an example) PSA 4, could sale for at least as much as a PSA 5 with poor centering. How are values going to be considered going forward? The PSA 4 will sale all day long, but the 5 may not sale for as much or sit for a while. ( This discussion is focused on HOF's from the early sixties back). Will centering take over for the grade itself, if the grade is within a point? It definitely appears the centered cards are hot.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

I will pay as much for a centered 4 as I would for an average 5. I prefer a card that was factory perfect and worn down with time and love over a card that was factory imperfect but preserved over time. This being said, I can still fully respect a 60/40 with sharp corners but I do lean towards, and pay premiums for centered cards.

in grading infancy, the " technical grade/flip number" was the important thing.

kinda like having the tommy hilfiger shirts and the jordans.

now-a-days, the infancy has matured and the "grade" has taken a back seat to actual quality.

we still remember the grade, but collectors are now making wiser decisions that come w/ age.

I'll go with centering every time.

    Worth a premium

I will pay a premium for centering on a card. Totally get others who like the sharp corners and don't get carried away with centering.

I'm also very big on centering. I paid a premium to get this 1969 Nolan Ryan card about 4 years ago.

Centering and higher grade vintage is all I shoot for. I pass on many high grade cards if their centering is not at least 60-40 and preferably better.

I too will pay a premium for well-centered cards.
