Baltimore Show Summary

Attended the show on Thursday and Friday maxing out the days (Left 6AM Thursday, return 10PM Thursday). While exhausting I enjoyed every minute of it. Cozy show small enough to fully cover in 2 days.

Dinner with EVP and friends and also met his lovely missus who was a real sport in sitting around dinner table listening 6 other guys talk coins and politics. Quite enjoyable evening.

Todd @ BlueCC Photo imaged some coins I brought and 2 medals below which I will share once processed.

Otherwise, sold, traded yet mostly picked up a few coins and medals and this scarce Taler from Atlas which I really like.

1669, GERMAN STATES. Saxe-New-Gotha. Ernst I Taler. Obv: Bride and groom hold hands under a dove and the divine glory, Hebrew lettering of Jehovah, with rays descending on marriage of Ernst's son Frederick and Magdalena Sybilla of Weissenfels. Rev: 12-line inscription. KM-25; DAV-7449; Schnee 425; Steguweit 22. Extremely rare, Krause notes a mintage of just 747 pieces. Lovely olive and gold toning. NGC MS-62.

1736, Reformation Medal, by M. Holtzhey (stamp). 49.06 mm; 46.56 g. Whiting 480; Verv. Loon 108. Bernoulli 200. Commemorating the construction of the Protestant church in Rotterdam. Obv: The river god Maas Meuse sits before the city view of Rotterdam, with numerous ships in the foreground, above five coats of arms. Rev: View of the newly built church, in the section two coats of arms and four lines of scripture. Beautiful specimen.

1631, SWEDEN, Protestant Swedish Victory at Breitenfeld. 54.2mm. 21.77 gr. Original hollow silver cast by S. Dadler. Maue 29: Hild. I, 132.57; Wiecek 74; BDM I, 496. Obv: Bust of Gustavus Adolphus three-quarters right in ornamented cartouche. Rev: King in ancient armour standing as God's warrior on killed enemies. Superb condition, lovely light cabinet toning and sharp details.

GERMAN STATES. Augsburg. 18th Century (ND) AR Medal. By PH Muller. 44mm. On marriage and the family. Obv: Pair, connected by chain with heart in the center, below radiant triangle. Rev: Female figure with cornucopia leads a boy holding a bird's nest; in the background, hen and chicks. Goppel 1035; Forster 878. NGC MS63.

    I wish I had seen the taler in hand. Glad you got it. Nice medals too.

    Btw, my wife has lately become interested in USA politics because I have CNN on constantly. Coins not so much. :(

    Raw to the point report - glad you where "allowed" to leave for a few days .

    My fav. is the 1669 "Hashem" piece as you know - the grade is spot on, nice EA. Good luck with this theme.

    Like that 1631 Swedish Victory piece -Superb condition, lovely light cabinet toning and sharp details. totally!

    If I had to pick one piece, it would be the Augsburg medal. The high relief, stunning detailed engraving work, and the hen with chicks on the reverse put me over the top! <3<3<3

    These are neat and intriguing numismatic items. The coin community would benefit from more collectors like Zohar. IMO, European coins from the 1400s to the 1900s continue to be under-appreciated by collectors in North America an Asia.
