I know the MLB season just ended, but is it too early to look towards next year??

I suppose that as fans we can hold onto our joy or sadness for as long as we want to but that isn't a luxury that the Management of a Professional Sports Team can embrace. In today's era it probably isn't one the players can enjoy for very long, either. Maybe a few weeks to relax with your family but next year is closer than we all realize. I always liked hearing the old-timers who had to return to the family farm or take on a job to make ends meet. Things have sure changed!!

The Cleveland Indians extended Terry Francona through 2020 and picked up Carlos Santana's option for 2017, both good moves. They are probably gonna make an offer to Mike Napoli and/or Rajai Davis but from what I read they might not be able to keep them both. I think Napoli might be used a little less next year if they get him, he sort of ran out of gas at the end of August. As for Davis, he would be a good spot player in the OF/pinch hitter/pinch runner, but probably not an everyday player since Michael Brantley should return and be the starter in LF.

Past those two guys I expect most of the Team's moves to be with pitchers, probably an attempt to get an extra Lefty in the BP.

Has your Team done anything yet?? What do you expect them to do?? What's the outlook for your Boys-of-Summer??

Keets, I can feel your disappointment in the Indians W.S. loss to the Cubs, as the Royals lost to
the Giants in 2014 then came back the very next year and turned the heartbreak into pure joy by winning
it all against the Mets. So it can happen!
Remember winning the A.L. pennant is a huge accomplishment, and the Indians will be getting their
    well deserved rings for it.

As for K.C., I hope Moose is healthy the whole year. And Cain. Gordon needs to pick it up and prove
his disapointing year this year was a fluke.
And I think we need an ace starting pitcher, a true number 1 to lead the staff.
Don't know if Duffy is the guy for that role or not, he is dominating at times.
We should still have very good relief pitching if they stay healthy.
Hosmer could turn into a superstar if he can avoid the slumps that he sometimes has.

Good luck to the Indians, but I want to see the Royals back at the top of the A.L. Central.(Home of the last three AL pennants)

KC was hurt by injuries this year, I think they will be OK in 2017. you probably are in a better spot to judge the Royals than me, do you think the drop-off for some players(like a personal favorite, Gordon) was due to the fact that he tried to hard to carry the load?? as for Duffy, you are correct, he looked dominant at times this year and appears to have a very bright future.

Never too early to look forward to next season. I enjoy all the rumors and dealings of the winter.

Cleveland passed on Napoli and Davis to allow them the chance to sign elsewhere and test their true value, the QO of $17mil is just too high. I suppose that after they shop themselves around and establish their "true value" that they will then receive the real QO from the Tribe and be back in the fold.

    at least I hope so.

apparently the Indians have won the Encanarcion sweepstakes to the tune of three years and $65 million. according to their website will be announced after the Holidays.

  • If you can still get the Tribe at 14-1....do it

Royals 40-1. Might like that. Tribe where I looked is 9-1.

yeah, Cleveland is anywhere from 14-1 to as low as 8-1.

probably things will change coming out of Winter meetings and allowing for everything to firm up as the Teams head to spring training. all these odds seem to be in November or early December which is prior to any recent transactions. I feel confident that the predictions had Encarnacion staying in Toronto, now that he is an almost certain Cleveland Indian that has to change things.

also, once Michael Brantley returns and the banged up pitchers get looked at they will drop somewhat. that original 14-1 is looking like a good bet if anyone took it.
