Best way to liquidate a sports card/autograph collection
I have a collection of baseball (and other sports) cards, some from my youth in the 70's, others assembled from my med school days in the 80's, that I would like to sell. Most cards are in the $1-10 range in value, but probably can be grouped to sell as lots.
There are some others, maybe a few dozen, that range in value from $25 to $500+, and many of these will be sent for grading, starting with what I perceive to be the most valuable. I joined the PSA Platinum level club and will make my first 15 card submission today.
As a Pittsburgh native, I focused on the Pirates and their HOFers, with a near complete Clemente run (missing the 1955) and complete Stargell and Mazeroski collections. I also have the first two Bradshaw years and some others. I tried to collect as many Pittsburgh Pirates as possible from 1955-1980 or so, have complete 1960 Pirates and 1971 Pirates, the WS years, in variable but not pristine collection.
I also have an extensive autograph collection that I obtained mostly in the 1980's, some in person, some purchased, and some by mailing items to players. My highlights include Clemente, Satchell Paige, and Paul Waner.
I am looking to sell EVERYTHING! Are there reputable resellers that would handle the transaction, auction the cards worth auctioning, grouping lots for eBay sales, etc.? I would obviously like to maximize the value, and I would similarly like to minimize the work involved.

^^ Cool!
Since u r a Pirate fan, any chance you have a 65 Topps autographed card of either Clemente, May or Rodgers?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Check with Jenny, she's an expert in liquidating collections.

Prefer to buy in bulk.
Contact PWCC, PROBSTEIN123 or BBCE. They will give you an idea of value. You will need to determine the trade off between labor/time involvement vs. value. Good luck. You can also sell your item on the BST board too.
Thank you for the suggestions. I am going to get some of the better cards and autos graded and sell some of the lower value stuff on eBay and see how things turn out. I agree that it could be a significant time sink and would prefer to offload the whole lot!
Any answer to my question?

I've been in the market for a Stargell signed rookie card for quite some time.

No, to both of the above.
Thanks for the response. Good luck with your sales.

question could you had sent that Roberto clemente card to have graded the autograph and not the card itself in red label ? thanks

To the OP:
PWCC would make sense for some higher end cards/autos, but I would check on their consignment rates. It may make more sense to use Probstein for more mid-end cards/lots as I believe he charges less in rates at certain price levels.
BBCE/Baseball Card Exchange is great to work with and they do sell a lot of autographs so they are a great option.
For unsigned/ungraded cards I believe Greg Morris has a good reputation in that realm.
Good luck.
I believe with PSA's dual service grading you can request Auth grade on the card and numeric grade on the auto (or vice versa) in the red flip. You could also choose Auth/Auth or number grade/number grade.
i really don't like the authentic grade because that is the grade they give to cards less than grade 1 also?
