Home Buy, Sell, & Trade - U.S. Coins

Are we still supposed to put all things for sale in one post?

Or can we now break every item selling into individual posts? With all the changes to the website in the last year or so, maybe this long time policy has changed and I missed the announcement of it.
Reason for asking is there is 1 user that has 3 listings in the top 10 posts as of posting this.

I saw no such announcement or change to the rules... just looks like a rookie user that does not know the rules... happens every few months and probably always will.

As I understand it, the rule has always been that you can have as many BST posts as you want, but you can only post/bump one buying and one selling post per day.

My understanding always was you should only have ONE posting of everything you're selling all in that one post...and you can only bump your own post once a day. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned by a CU Mod to do this because otherwise the board gets too cluttered. Could be wrong, that's why asking for clarification.

I believe Illini is correct. I know I have more than one list of items for sale. They are unrelated and I think it helps everyone to summarize/target the items in the title. The most important part is not more than one bump per day.

The protocol since the days of Sportsmoderator1 has been to allow 1 For Sale post and 1 Want to Buy/Trade post per member on the front page, which is currently fixed at 50 threads. The free use of the space here makes it only sensible to limit per member usage of each page in fairness to all. And FWIW to the OP, I believe someone did call out the offender, who asked quickly how to remedy the issue. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly without a flame-fest.

How many posts use to be on the first page? I thought that was something a user use to actually be able to select in their settings? Not sure, but pretty sure of that. So if that was the case, the number of posts on the first page could've been different for everyone based on what they selected it to be.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong no big deal.
With 50 being on the first page now and that seems to not be selectable to the user, combined with not nearly as much traffic here as it use to be, staying on the first page could be 2-3 days depending on the traffic. That's whay I've been bumping my post each day even if still on the first page, because I thought it was one bump a day.

Again, there's certainly bigger things to worry about, just thought I might've missed something with the chnages 2x to the site in the last year.

The viewable thread count per page used to be a manually selectable option for members, with a range of 1-100. Granted, those who chose a smaller thread count per page would have been more inclined to bump a thread more frequently to keep on or near the front page. The arbitrary standard for a long time of selecting 50 threads per page seemed to work smoothly, which is why it appears that is the fixed setting now. I don't believe that thread bumping was ever anywhere near as much of an issue though, as posting multiple threads in close proximity, which was always perceived as hogging the free space.

Within any 1 day, there should only be, per user, 1 post per type.
That 1 day is "squishy" and people usually use common sense when seeing them. Ie....is it 24 hours? Is it 1 calendar day? Don't forget, if going by calendar day, that some folks are different time zones....etc.

So, user SPONGEBOB has a FOR SALE post on 11/2/16.
User SPONGEBOB should ONLY have 1 FOR SALE post on that day.
However, user SPONGEBOB can have a separate Want to Buy thread on the same day.
Also acceptable, is an additional Want To Trade.

If they aren't trying to game the system (ie, create a FOR SALE thread AND a TRADE thread and then, in the TRADE thread, put in "or for sale at this price"), then the above has always been acceptable.

When users abuse the system, they have been, from what I have seen, publicly chastised and, when continuing, have been reported to the mods.

I would suggest that, if there is no doubt, and they are new, mention it to them and see if they will change their ways.
If not, and/or they get belligerent, notify a mod and state why.

The system works best when there are rules and people follow the rules. It isn't right for one collector, or dealer, to be able to abuse the system at the expense of others.

Our host should probably put a sticky at the top outlining the rules and the "do's" and "don'ts."

BST for Sports Cards has a sticky post for the purpose.
I also agree there should be one here in the BST for Coins.

I have requested DW to do so.

    One buy
    One sell
    One bump
    One day

    Seems easy to remember
