A few new bust halves

I have no illusions about getting close to a complete die marriage set. But, in my retirement, I've been having fun acquiring new ones.

Two are from Legend, one from ebay. Feel free to guess which came from ebay.
Lance.

    Beautiful newps Lance!
I'm going to guess that all 3 are MS62 with the first two being from Legend, and the last from eBay.
Congrats again on your newest additions!

Amazing that you find so many bust half dollars....very very nice. My guess is that the 1827 is ebay and 1828 from legend. :)

    35 also legend. :)

  • As always, your photographic skills are impeccable! I love the 1827 with such rich deep peripheral toning that blends ever soooo nicely into the centers.

Your 1827 is awesome...I'm guessing it is from Ebay not Legend...LOL...all look about 63 to me...

    Simply gorgeous!

    What a trio, congratulations!

Huh. I was wrong. Just one is from Legend. The other, Great Collections. And eBay.

The lowest grade belongs to the 1827 (63+). It's my favorite. Sure it was dipped long ago and album-retoned. But it has great flash and color.

The 1828 was from Great Collections and is graded MS64. It too is album-toned just a little less uniformly.

The 1835 is the Legend coin MS64. I'm not as fond of the lettered-edge later years...the design and common blunt strike. This example has nice colors that remind me of pastel chalk.

So, yes, the 1827 was an eBay purchase. I made an offer 15% under asking and it was accepted. Shocked me.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys!
    Lance.

Pretty coins. I'm ok with the 1827 as a MS63 as it seems to have the least rub of the group. Would not have thought MS64 on those last 2 halves.

Lance. Since he is not OK with the grades, please send them in and insist they take the grades down to whatever he "is OK" with.

I agree, I would have thought AU, but perhaps its just photo technique.

Yeah, this coming from the guy who thinks all his coins are upgrades....lol. But, fwiw, I'd be fine with sending those other two MS64's back in raw to PCGS. Let's see what they come back. If they both come back 64 or better I'll pay the whole freight for postage and grading fees including CAC if any are stickered.....you get a "free" look. If they don't, Wabbit pays for the whole deal....as well as any market loss for the grade drop. If they come back higher than 64, you can cut in Wabbit for half of the profits. A 3rd party would be responsible for the actual submission (Mark Feld, Tom Bush, or some dealer with a solid track record around here). If Wabbit is so sure of those grades, let them put their money where their mouth is....as there's nothing to loose if they come back 64 again.
