That's great Rick- I pulled one out of circulation a few weeks ago too. I also stumbled across a seller on Ebay that had the Loomis 2016-D rolls, and I took a chance and bought 15 rolls. Opened up 7 rolls and found 27 DDR's! These have 3 distinct patterns of doubling- Strong doubling, Medium doubling, and Faint doubling South of bands. It's quite possible that there are different DDR varieties from different dies. I'm in the process of sending these out to John Wexler for confirmation of new DDR. I'll let all know once I get word back.
Here was the update I posted awhile ago on new discoveries with pics of Strong doubling, and Faint Doubling South of Bands.

If these get officially confirmed and end up in the CPG, then not only am I a strong buyer in a 7FB or higher, but you will have several collectors looking for one.
As of now, you have just a nice piece for your collection.
I agree they are fun to look for and find in pocket change. Let's face it they will never be worth less than ten cents!
Kind of remind me of the extra finger blobs on the 2009 Lincoln cents, though. Despite inclusion of several of these varieties in the CPG, they never really caught on. Not for lack of intense promotion, either. They just weren't dramatic enough for most mainstream collectors to bother with.

This could also be a new one, after comparing wexler to this one, wexler is higher on the band, then this one ...

Here's a side by side of the one Wexler has showing, doubling is more south on this one .

Are these really worth anything?

I'm still looking for a nice 2004-D Double Ear.
