Superior Auction Winner notifications

Anybody have any idea how long it takes to find out if you won or not?

I've received notification via ebay, this has been through the live bidding though and I knew I had won the lot. If you placed a bid via ebay (live or absentee) it should reflect the won/loss stauts of you bid.

I think the auctions I've bid on dont go live for another four hours. If I'm not mistaken, the auction is broke into different sesions. You're auction probably ended yesterday. At least I'll know that I'll find out within a day.

Just out of curiousity, what'd you win?

David I have a bid on an IHC tonight, its my understanding Ebay will notify you soon after the auction. Are you going to watch it live or is anyone else for that matter?
  • I bid on nine IHC's in the Superior auction and they better let me know if I have any money left for the Heritage Long Beach auction on the 6th. There are some great Indians in that auction too.

Yes, I intend to watch the auctions end. It should be in about two hours. For now, I'll just have to settle with washing the car.

Superior screwed me! Superior listed the auctions...... I placed my bids.........Superior then canceled the auctions (Add more Information) Then relisted them!

So all 5 of my bids were cancelled!!!!!!

What really sucks is that if my bids would have been put back in place.... I would have won every lot! ( My bid was higher than all the final closing prices!)

Spooly, why didn't you rebid them?
  • Spooly, Superior did cancel all the bids. The reason they gave was that some coin images were placed with the wrong auctions. They sent an email to me and I suspect to all bidders well in advance of the auctions explaining this and the necessity to resign up for the auction and to rebid. They all showed all the original auctions to be closed on ebay. It was fairly clear to me.

I think that the owners of the coins being auctioned should have the biggest gripes as some bidders could have been confused or mad and not replaced their bids.

So far just four lots from Superior:

    Two large cents:
    1844/81 N2 EF40
    1803 EF40

Just to keep Spooly honest image (they are raw)

    and two half cents

    1826 C1 VF35
    and 1854 C1 EF45

I'll see what additional stuf I pick up.......

An interesting side note I was bidding live and a coin was running at 750 and I went to bid at 800, it then jumped to 5000 and my bid was the winning bid at 5000k, not 800..... for two seconds then it closed over 8K. I was FREAKING out thinking I was screwed by a half second time delay. Watch out on the live stuff.....

roflmao Rich. My bids are in as high as they are going to go. That scenario would have given me nightmares.

What happens if there is a tie with internet bids? I suppose it would go to the person who bid first. I think superiors estimates are way high on some coins. Does any one know which collection these coins are out of? Specifically the Lincolns, some really nice stuff up for sale tonight.

AMAZING Lincolns tonight! I hope I don't win all the ones I bid on! (And to think I wasn't even going to bid...)
  • It is impossible to bid live on ebay versus floor bidders. There are way too many auctions in too little time. All you can do is put in your best bid and hope.

Durn it lost lot 3044, 1881 IHC by $50.imageimageimageimageimage
  • Mike 3044 is a real nice coin, but I think it was getting close to being an RB. If you check the scan on the listing page it looks darker than all the other reds. But what can you really tell from the scan? I lost one coin by $10 and another by $60 and was amazed at some of the other bids that appeared especially on the MS 66 common dates and the 65 copper nickels - way higher than the estimates and even way higher than Eagle Eye's most recent retail buy prices. I got shut out, like just about all the other internet bidders.

The floor is tough to beat Mike -- you bid $50 buck more and they probably still top you.

Did you catch those 1900-1909-S IH 66RD prices? Just posted some in the US forum.
  • IrishMikeIrishMike Posts: 7,737 ✭✭✭
Yeah I know what you mean Paul, it just bugs me that I missed it, but that was my absolute top price. Those 1900's floored me. I wonder why they went so high?

I got only 1 out of 17 bids. I got the 16-S MS64! Some $25 and $50 snipes from the floor bidders beat me on others, as expected. Got totally blown out by some though. Those Lincolns drew some amazing prices!

I got ZERO out of two. I placed a $330 bid on a 54-P, and didnt get it. Granted, I woundt have went that high if it had been an average 66... but still. GEEZZZ! I'm a second rate-bidder. This is a new experince for me.
