1830 Houck's Panacea Half Dollar; PCGS XF45
(Circa 1836) Houck's Panacea counterstamp on an 1830 Bust Half dollar. The Houck's counterstamp was a contemporary advertisement for Mr. Jacob Houck's patent medicine, which was prepared "solely from vegetable matter" and sold for $1.50 per bottle. Mr. Houck claimed that his concoction could be "taken with perfect safety by all ages and in all diseases." His ad also claimed that it could cure anything from gas to yellow fever to gout.

Coins with the Houck's counterstamp are seldom found in high grade. On this example, the counterstamp was struck twice. You can see the remnants of the first strike near Liberty's lips. There is lots of luster on both sides. This is a very sweet example......now on eBay, or buy it here for $1510.

1860 Seated Liberty Dollar
Wholesome, original coin that has never been cleaned or messed with.
Nice rims.
This Philadelphia Mint issue is much scarcer that its New Orleans counterpart.
This piece has been in my personal collection for many years and has never been submitted for grading....$890
