Are we stuck with the 400x400 pixel limit on side by side pictures going forward?

For me, it's too early to start reducing all of my pictures that I post here. This software wastes a lot of space when viewing a thread. 400x400 example below.

TrueViews are 1100x550. Maybe if you put them together as one image

Bob, I believe that the software reduces the TV's in size to fit the format. Your image doesn't appear to be an additional 330 pixels wide. I can load one of my TV Large pics and it will look like yours.
The OP's image is side by side on my PC and top to bottom on my IPad.
Great coin, btw.
@robec , I don't recall seeing the black background TV.
I'd prefer that if given a choice.

I guess you're right. It does enlarge when you click on it though. At least you'd get em up there side by side.
@sparky64, the black background isn't a TrueView option unfortunately.

I agree, bolivarshagnasty. 400x400 seems to be the maximum for side-by-side images and it's far too small.
I always felt 600x600 was ideal...sometimes 1000x1000 for special images presented on top of one another.
I'm a little bummed that the forum width is so narrow. I guess we'll adapt.
Lance.
I've asked in the "New Forum Thread" at the top of the page that the Mods consider a larger window for us. If more do the same, maybe we can change this situation.
At first I didn't like the size limitation of how the photos show on this new forum, but now I don't mind it as much given that if you upload a larger photo that gets resized small you can click on it and get the full size anytime you want. That is a major advantage over the way the previous forum worked.

Hmm... Can't click through either for an enlarged picture.

Top looks way better on my screen. Color wise.
I click and it opens another tab with larger pic.
Edit: Both pics enlarge.

With all of this wasted grey space to the right of this thread, why can't we have it like it was? Reduce the Discussions and Categories in size and increase the thread width. If you agree, go the the first Welcome Post, go to the thread where I ask this very question, and click on AGREE. Let's see if we can change this.
Well, today I can click through. Not sure why it didn't work last night, but at least that works, and the larger image is the actual size image.
Your observation about the color is interesting, and I had the same feeling. To verify that this was not an illusion, I downloaded both images and compared them. The result confirms that there is a difference. The uploaded image has some small differences, mostly in the blue channel. On gold, if blue is too strong, the color will become dead.
This is the unenhanced difference image, which I am hosting rather than uploading and storing in PNG format to avoid introducing further artifacts. If you look closely, you'll see a faint, blue image. The stronger any given pixel, the stronger the difference. A histogram shows most differences at less than 10 gray levels, that the differences are strongest in the blue channel and weakest in the green channel. This corresponds to the fact that the eye is most sensitive to changes in green and least sensitive to changes in blue.
This is the difference image enhanced to better show that the nature of the differences is accumulated JPEG artifacts.
The difference between the two exists in both the reduced-size inline renderings within the discussion and the clicked-through full size images. Bottom line is that while the image quality degradation is small, especially compared to what you see when uploading a file to popular social media sites, if you want images to be shown as you have them, host them yourself rather than uploading them.
