I posted before asking about National $1000 and have a few more.
First. The famous 1890 $1000 Watermelon. I am a bit lost on that one because I thought there was one ONE known to exist in private hands and one more at the Federal Reserve but this site says 7 are known to exist:(oldcurrencyvalues.com/1890_1000_treasury_note/
So which is it?
Second, this is pure speculation but let us say a First Charter $1000 shows up. Big news. What does it sell for?
Could it take the $10 Million record from the 1794 SP Dollar?
I have plans....sometimes

I don't think it's a 10 million dollar note.... I suspect 2 to 3 is certainly within reason.
If the 1890 Watermelon sells for $3 million I find it hard to think somebody finding a First Charter $1000 would not exceed that.
It would not break the $10 million record because there are far, far fewer currency collectors.
There are 5 of the Fr. 379a (big brown seal) known and 2 Fr. 379b (small red seal) known.
For the Fr. 379a:
A3055 - in private hands, last sold by Heritage in 2013 for $1.53 million.
A10895 - owned by the FRB of San Francisco.
A11623 - owned by the Smithsonian.
A13341 - owned by the FRB of Chicago.
A13343 - in private hands, last sold in 2005 at Lyn Knight for $1.09 million.
For the Fr. 379b:
A27170 - in private hands. Last sold at Heritage in 2014 for $3.29 million.
A27183 - owned by the FRB of San Francisco.
My standing offer is 3.5M for a fine or better. Let me know when you get one.
Now you know somebody is going to read this and has one in their safe but it is going to be below Fine and say "Well I guess he does not want it. Damn!"
