Birthday Vintage Rip (all packs ripped)
Happy Saturday...Counting down the days to my birthday next Monday for a vintage rip. I know most of this is a losing proposition value-wise, but the experience is what I am after. The oldest packs I have ripped up to this point in my life have been 78 rack packs. I will beat that by 4 years in this rip...
Here's is what will be up on the chopping block. The first two still wrapped in their BBCE wrapping. The last three were from BBCE breaks.
First up - Low-Series 89 UD box. Reliving some childhood experiences. Never pulled a Jr RC in UD. Hoping for one in this box.
Then, a rack from my birth year - 1979
Next, a 77 Cloth pack
Then, a 75 mini wax pack
Last up, a 74 wax pack
Again, just going to have fun with this and try and experience the rips. Not going to do this all too often...I would go broke!!

Good luck, Brent! If you pull any mint minis, I'm you're huckleberry, LOL!

see ya on the other side...
Thanks guys! I might just have to stay up till midnight to rip one of them.
Bob - I hope you're right. Maybe some of you rip voodoo will rub off on me!
shoot me some texts.
Decided to rip the 79 rack on my eve - Bob talked me into it. Got a birthday bonus. Ended up getting 41 cards, instead of 39.
Here we go. First, here it is fresh out of its BBCE wrapping:
Here is the first cell (in order from top left down to bottom right)...
Notable cards regarding stars or great centering/corners/edges/etc.
Good luck, Brent!

Weird mark on the Reggie Cleveland card. I guess it's on every card.
I ripped about 75% of the UD box...I got my Griffey. It is a tad OC L/R. I figure it is a 9, doubt a 10.
The 77 Pack was up next...I got a decent Morgan...
Happy birthday!! Good luck with the rest of the rips
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I got through the rest of the UD box and got a couple more nice HOFers, but no more Jrs.
So I decided to rip into the 80 super cello. It was a dud - only one HOF and not one card that was centered.
Then I go to the 75 Mini and had a FANTASTIC pack. It had a mix of nicely centered cards and great HOFers...including my oldest pack pulled Yaz!! It is horribly OC, but it has now become an incredibly sentimental card!!
Then only pack left is the 74 wax. I'm going to do that after my daughter goes to bed. Totally losing proposition on this pack value-wise, but very much looking forward to it!!
BTW, The Johnstone card was the wax card and the RC Pitchers was the gum card...
And the 74 pack was a bust, but that is ok, I can now say that I ripped a pack of 74s!
Thanks for sharing the results.
Great rips!! Thanks!
I am sure you had an AWESOME time ripping those. Happy Birthday and thanks for sharing!!!!

First off happy Birthday glad you were able to hit a Griffey Rookie I hear to may people coming
up empty when opening 89 Upper Deck boxes. Think someone here opened up like three or four
boxes in a row all from different sellers and didn't get a single Griffey.

Happy Belated Brent--sure you had a blast doing it
Thanks guys! It definitely was a fun experience. Very hard to see the rest of my vintage unopened dating back to 1972 and not just impulsively ripping those cards so they are freed from their wax prisons! Not gonna do it, but doesn't stop me from thinking it
