If pretty much been stuck on trades only for signed cards, but other than those, this has been my experience
Cant help ya. All of that was my "retirement" collected back in the 80s and 90s, which subsequently drove away in the back of a p/u truck and I was left staring at $1000.
Back in the mid-1990's I did a lot of trading on the old Beckett message boards. I lived in Detroit at the time and was able to trade all of my extras for Tigers, Pistons, Lions, and Red Wings. Then Ebay came along and it became much easier to sell and buy what I needed.
In your specific case, I think the general market opinion is that early 1980's football has more upside than the baseball counterpart. You would need to trade at a discount, which probably doesn't make sense for you.
Used to do a lot of face to face trading back in the 90's. I just don't have a lot I want to part with right now. I guess I am an accumulator at this point
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I've participated in approximately 5 or so trades this year. Some 1-for-1 and some involving multiple item lots w/ high value. Compare that with probably over a thousand transactions of purchases plus sales. Trades are still happening, but certainly few and far between.
