I live in the DC metro area. Being a SoCal transplant and a fan of history, I am always in awe of the sites here. Man, within 2/3 hours by car, I have seen Gettysburg, Baltimore, Philly, Richmond, Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, and etc. This does not include all the sites in DC.

I do follow the Nats, but I cheer for my Dodgers !

I've lived just outside Baltimore for 10 years now. You are correct in saying you can't see it all in a day. Just to go all the way through the large museums (Natural/American/Air & Space) could easily take a day each. Arlington, the memorials, etc; all take quite a bit of time.

Like Dodgers Fan said, you can hit Gettysburg (also a total day or more), the Virginia sites, and more. It's packed with history and sites and is a lot of fun to see and learn about if you're into that sort of thing.

Really enjoyed being in Baltimore the night they played Toronto in the Wild Card game. Great vibe in the city that day. Too bad it didn't go their way. Camden Yards it truly a palace! Loved looking around the area.

Philadelphia is on fire for the Eagles and Carson Wentz. Lots of hats and jerseys everywhere. Our tour guide and I had a great time talking football before the tour began.

Finally, in DC, Nats hats, T's and jerseys were on display. Lots of team pride to be seen. So much to see there. 3 days was not enough!

Overall, I highly recommend this type of trip to anyone that can swing it(pun intended).

To see the historical areas of this great nation, visit Arlington Cemetery and talk to passionate sports fans is hard to beat on a vacation, IMHO.

  • I lived in/near Philly for 30 years after being originally from Florida. What a great sports town! Fans are so passionate. They get negative quickly, but the passion is very, very real. Sports Radio there is awesome (love Mike Missinelli). I'm happy for the Eagles success this year (and sad for my lowly Dolphins).
