Raw complete set pricing. What would you be happy paying?

All,

I totally get this depends of condition and I can look on Ebay to see what they are generally going for, but I am curious what you all would consider a "deal" price would be on these sets in mid grade. I have a local reseller that says they have these and I haven't looked at them yet, but want to have a going in price to counter with. Thanks for any help!

I would be very leery of 1971 topps baseball sets. Lots of tampering went on and goes on.

As one who just completed that set in a fairly high grade, I second that advice (look for recoloring as well as trimming). However, I think those things may not be as much an issue with a mid-grade set. Recoloring would be pretty easy to spot there.

Not to hijack your thread, but...

What would the experts on the board feel confident paying for a nice looking 1985 Topps football complete set?

Too many variables to provide a good answer, are you looking to buy and keep the sets, flip them, cherry pick and sub some? Is mid grade solid ex to ex/ mt or VG to VG / ex with creases? How do the star cards and key cards look along with the high numbers? Are there any white letter varieties in the 69 set? I've bought and sold mid grade 1973 sets between $150 and $400, based upon the condition of the Schmidt, Ryan, low pop checklist etc.
