CU random slotted 1986 Fleer Basketball PSA 9 Set Break Going Live Friday 10/7/2016 around 4pm PACIF

Ok. Thanks everybody who has posted a reply expressing interest in the break. It looks like we have enough interest to try to go forward with the break so I wanted to update this post with more information regarding the break including logistics and the economics of the break. Scans of the set, including large images of the Jordan are still below.

PRICE PER SLOT: $87

SHIPPING: $3 flat for first card, $1 additional for each card with a cap at $5. So if you buy more than three slots shipping for every slot after the third will be free.

NOTE: If you win the Jordan, you will be expected to pay more for shipping. You will pay the actual cost of shipping the card to you via USPS Express Overnight or USPS Registered Mail shipping with full insurance. If you think this is unfair and do not want to pay the extra shipping charges for the Jordan, let me know and I will gladly refund your slot and keep itimage

If you win the 121 Wilkins or the 132 Checklist you will pay normal shipping charges but you will also have to pay whatever the actual Insurance charge is for your cards.

INSURANCE: For everyone else, insurance will be optional. If you want insurance on your package I will add it to your total. Again, the cost will be the exact USPS charge for insurance that you request.

PAYMENT TERMS: Payment is expected as soon as the break ends, which is defined as when all the slots are claimed. I will update everyone’s total on the official break thread, so please wait for the total before sending payment. Payment is expected via PayPal and will be net to me. PayPal Friends and Family is preferred but if you want PayPal Goods please know that 3% will be added to the total to account for the PayPal fees.

START TIME: The break will start around 4PM Pacific on Friday 10/7/2016 (I get off work around 4 so it may be a little earlier or later). I will create a new thread around this time and once it is up, the break is live and you can begin requesting slots. For maximum inclusion, for the first 24 hours there will be a limit of 2 slots per person. After the first 24 hours and for the next 24 hours, everyone can add two more slots. After 48 hours, you can open as many slots as you desire.

RANDOMIZATION: After the break is paid for by all the participants I will announce a date/time where I will stream a live broadcast of the randomization of the break. I have never live streamed before so I still have to figure out how to work it, but I think I will try to do the live stream on Breakers TV. I will post the link to the broadcast at the time of announcement. Each slot purchased will be assigned a number 1-132 by the order of purchase, this list will be on the first page of the official break page once it goes live. I will try to update as frequently as possible as people are buying their slots. The slot numbers will then be put through the randomizer on Random.org and randomized seven times (lucky number 7 for someone). The seventh randomization will be the official break of the set and each slot will receive the card that matches their spot in the order of that final list.

ECONOMICS OF THE BREAK:

These are the VCP AVG values of every card in the break as of 10/3/2016. The total value of these cards is $11,007.83 for an average of $83.39. The mark up on this break is minimal as I believe I have seen averages between 15-25% for similar breaks.

Please note that there is one card missing from the set: Maurice Lucas. If you win the slot associated with #66 Maurice Lucas, that card will be replaced with a Dominique Wilkins PSA 9 Sticker. In this case the sticker is more valuable than the card it is replacing.

ETA: After going through my set, I found four cards that were upgraded/updated that were different from the cards in the scans above. They are all commons and do not materially change much about the break. But for the sake of accuracy, these four cards will replace the cards in the scans above:
image

Here are the late additions to the set, Buck Williams and Al Wood, as well as the Dominique Sticker that will replace the slot for Maurice Lucas.

Here is a list of the highest dollar cards available based on VCP average. There are 19 cards that are valued at greater than the individual slot values and 12 of them I would call significantly greater value (<$150). 57="" jordan="" 5142.19="" 132="" checklist="" 590.05="" 121="" d.="" wilkins="" 458.62="" 77="" mullin="" 253="" 7="" barkley="" 239.57="" sticker="" 194="" 32="" ewing="" 183.18="" 109="" thomas="" 175.4="" 82="" olajuwon="" 165.11="" 131="" worthy="" 163.69="" 68="" k.="" malone="" 159.69="" 76="" moore="" 150.81="" 1="" abdul-jabbar="" 123.55="" 65="" lloyd="" 100.18="" 11="" blackman="" 99.44="" 55="" s.="" johnson="" 96.81="" 67="" j.="" 94.37="" 2="" adams="" 94.04="" 9="" bird="" 89.06="" slots="" _24_87="" 110="" l.="" thompson="" 83.98="" 120="" webb="" 82.36="" 99="" scott="" 79.91="" 26="" drexler="" 73.37="" 53="" mag.="" 72.12="" please="" post="" here="" or="" pm="" if="" you="" have="" any="" questions="" about="" the="" process="" break.="" my="" goal="" is="" to="" obviously="" sell="" set="" _here2c_="" break="" must="" out="" for="" this="" happen.="" i="" think="" can="" be="" a="" fun="" thing="" board="" and="" am="" looking="" forward="" process.="" do="" not="" cause="" drama="" here.="" like="" rules="" of="" participate.="" should="" all="" involved.="" _thanks2c_="" steve="" lum="" />

Thanks for the quick responses to all those who have replied. Seems like we are off to a pretty good start with interested parties. Hopefully we will continue to get more positive interest throughout the evening and when people see this thread tomorrow AM and afternoon. If the momentum continues tomorrow I will go through and check on all the cards to confirm the scans are correct and I will post more firm details on how the break will be run.

BTW, if people have any questions, feel free to post them to this thread now so I can respond/answer either before or within the post detailing the break.

    Thanks again!

I think Steve said he would estimate to be around $80-90/slot

I did a quick look at VCP at PSA 9...the total come out to about $75-80, so Steves estimate is about spot on.

Thanks for the post. Perhaps I was unclear. No cards will be shipped before I receive payment in full. When I said "Payment is expected as soon as the break ends", the term "break ends" means when every slot is claimed. I am a trusting soul, but no I would not ship cards $11,000 of cards without up front payment. I appreciate your post as i was obviously not clear enough. I will update the post accordingly.

Not sure if I'll be able to play because of Mathew. I should be in better shape in NC than those in FLA & SC.

Obviously there are much bigger things than cardboard. I hope Matthew stays clear of you and your family over there. My wife has family in FL and NC so we hope that everyone stays safe and avoids damage. Hopefully you will get a chance to participate.
