Card with a crease

I have a card that has a crease from the left edge to the right edge.

I was curious to know the hobby's opinion on having creased cards graded or just authenticated?

Is one better for re-sell purposes?

It depends on the card. How valuable is the card? What will it grade? PSA may not slab i as authentic.

Putting a gradable card into an Authentic holder hopefully will never be an option with PSA. Cards that receive an Authentic grade can't receive a numerical grade due to a production issue, card doctoring, horrendous defaced shape, or a proof or something they will not put a grade to. There's nothing wrong with a creased card other than the crease so it's still a gradable card and would get a grade. The true condition of the card is disclosed in the grade the card gets. The value is based on eye appeal but the buyers know the grade of the card they're looking at. The only reason somebody would want a grading company to slab a gradable card as only authentic is if there's a major defect that's hard to see keeping the grade down and you're hoping buyers don't see or measure the defect as badly as PSA does.

Are you sure you can't have a card that would be eligible to be graded simply authenticated? I believe I saw a 1/1 hockey card on eBay recently only authenticated. In the description the seller said he only got it authenticated because it was a 1/1. So was he pulling some shananigans or could he have done it? I'll try and find the ad shortly.

I'm pretty sure that the Michael Jordan insert that was pulled at bbce and consigned through them was a PSA authentic. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong and it was bgs. And maybe it did only qualify as authentic. But I think that is an option with PSA.

It appears PSA does have the submitter request in there for an Authentic, but I do not know the exact circumstances where they will allow the submitter to do it. The seller's description of the hockey card shows how it's kind of a stupid idea as he has to repeatedly address the fact that it's in an Authentic holder. He also says that the actual grade doesn't matter but yet doesn't want any grade attached to the card. It really adds to the confusion as to what exactly is in the holder. What would happen if the buyer then sends it in for a grade and it won't receive a grade. It's bad to have "bad" Authentic cards out there mixed with "good" Authentic cards and somebody buying and selling them without knowing the difference.

N-0 Authentic Only - This means that PSA is only certifying that the item is genuine, without a numerical grade. This may be due to the existence of an alteration, one with malice or otherwise, a major defect or the original submitter may have requested that PSA encapsulate the card without a grade. The "Authentic" label means that the item, in our opinion, is real but nothing more.

I have like 20 1/1 bowman chrome 2009 WBC Team Panama Printing Plates which will never get a 10 because they are printing plates and the colors tend to run and have nicks etc...

i want to keep them in PSA holders and i was considering sending them and checking authentic instead of getting a 5 or 6 ......

this is one of the reasons i would check authentic....
