Kings beat themselves...

It's as simple as that... Kobe WASN'T clutch in the 4th and OT, but they got the job done...

  • I have to agree with Jeff. Looking at the box score, the Lakers didn't win the game, the Kings LOST the game. 2-20 (.100) from 3 point range and 16-30 (.533) from the free throw line won't get it done. I guess the Kings now have all off season to practice their free throws. LOL

  • In my opinion, 2-10 isn't acceptable, but that's not the issue, the issue is that 2-20 sure as hell isn't acceptable, and that, not 2-10, is what the Kings shot. Doug Christie officially sucks. He can be a defensive wizard all day, if you can't be trusted with the ball on the other end of the court, all the defense in the world doesn't make up for that. Why was he in the game in so many crucial offensive situations, while Bobby J sat the bench? -JP

  • Christie had no business shooting the ball in the second half. His shoot was way off from the start. Fact is you're all right. The Kings lost the game. They outplayed the Lakers and lost it at the foul line. The Lakers should be thanking the Kings for this game. Christmas came early for Laker fans.

  • Neither was acceptable in my book but we will have a lot of practice time. We are still one of the youngest teams in the league. We will learn.

  • Man if they only could have shot above 50% on the line they would have won! I can't believe they shot so bad...and Shaq hit so many. Kings had so many chances to finish off the Lakers and they didn't. Ah well...the championship was settled right there in overtime.... Lakers with the 3 peat.....

  • Shaq is doing something illegal when he shoots his free throws. It will have to be fixed in the offseason. He steps over the line before the ball hits the rim or backboard. It is in the rule book as a lane violation. He will not shoot as well when that is pointed out and fixed. Sacramento TV station showed it before the game in slow motion. He does it every time. They said they are going to submit it to the NBA so it should be back to the old Shaq next year.

  • You said it Vincecarder. Sad day for Kings fans when they look at the FT% stat line. Losing a series deciding game on free throws is blasphemy.

I think alot of that 2-10 in the three point range was caused by the Lakers. They did a better job on defense this game then the earlier ones. The 16-30 could have been they couldn't handle the pressure. I mean this had to be one of the hardest to win games this season. I think Shaq was CLUTCH by far. I would liek to see him raise his freee throw precentage to about 75% -80%. To me he has proved that he can hit them when he wants to. Now he just has to learn how to hit them all them all the time. Overall I believe that the Kings played there best games of the year in this series. I would like to see how they do next year against the Lakers. I expect that the Lakers to trade Mitch Richmond and get someone who rebounds good or something. They don't need fire power or anything else really. I would just like to see them get someone who is good on the boards, and he could back up Shaq if he gets in foul trouble at the center position.

lol... the Kings poor shooting was NOT because of the Lakers good defense... before 8kobe, everyone was correct... the Kings gave them the game and they did beat themselves... Peja choked and Christie made a mistake... but it should have never come down to that... they missed entirely too many free throws and 3 point shots... the Kings outplayed the Lakers the entire series and deserved to win... it really sucks to see a team as good as the Kings make it this far and then lose because of stupid mistakes, lack of concentration, and bad calls... (not blaming the game on bad calls, but yes, bad calls do play a role... for example, think about it... in Game 6, say that foul was called on Kobe, as it should have been, and Bibby went to the line for 2 free throws... those are 2 practically guarnteed points and that would have put the KINGS up by 1 with the Lakers having the last shot...)

and whoever says Kobe is CLUTCH is full of sh!t... i used to think Kobe was the best overall player in the NBA, but after this series, i changed my mind... his defense is truly horrible... all u Kobe fans can argue all u want, but the fact is, his defense sucks... Bibby owned Kobe at the end of that game, especially when it mattered most... Kobe clutch?... what in fact do u call clutch?... hitting 2 free throws when your team already has a comfortable lead with 6 seconds on the clock?... LOL... i remember him missing one a minute before that would have put the Lakers up by 2 instead of 1... or how about that foul he committed on Bibby when the Kings were down by 2 with under a minute to play... great job Kobe, just give him the 2 points instead of letting the clock run down and make them earn a shot...

Kobe is an annoying, self-loving basketball player... i'm not saying he's not good, because he is... but even with all his skills, i'd still say he's overrated... a complete player plays defense too and Kobe cannot guard anyone in "clutch" situations... u wanna talk about clutch?... let's talk about Mike Bibby...

the finals COULD have been fun to watch... i can just picture it now... Bibby v. Kidd... now, THAT would have been good basketball... instead, we have to see the Lakers win for the 3rd time in a row, and most likely a sweep... how fun will this be?

and for all u pressed Kobe fans, stop your d@mn complaining about giving Kobe his "props"... Kobe gets his props and Kobe gets recognized for what he does... and in my opinion, he gets too much props... the Lakers won the series and yes, they will win the finals, again... now, maybe all of u can get some sleep at night without worrying if your "boy" will be clutch or not...

oh and btw, i'ma Wizards fan so don't think i jumped on any bandwagon... i just know basketball and i know what i see...

Kobe's defense is terrible??? He does one of the better jobs on the Lakers. Heck he leads his team in steals per game. In the conference finals he was second on his team in both Block and steals. That is pretty good when you are expected to play both ends of the court. I believe that is a pretty good. Sure Bibby had a good game, but they shouldn't have had Kobe playing him at all. He is faster then Kobe. They should have had hunter or Fish playing him.

Bad calls as you say can't be blamed for a loss. The Kings don't play to the game. They play the game how they think it should be officated. The Lakers play the game to how the refs see it. The Kobe/Bibby call I believe was correct.

The NBA finals could be fun to watch if the East wasnt as terrible as it is. Heck there are about two teams in the East that are worth watching, and I wouldn't want to watch them most of the time.

I hope the Kings meet the Lakers next year again cause it was a good series. It would be nice to see the Lakers win it again so everyone knows who the best team of the two is.

It all comes down to this
Lakers 2(soon to be three) Kings 0

  • 8Kobe you're just like most of the Kobe fans on this board. You're always quick to reverse some fact against the Lakers or Kobe without any thought.

The fact is the Kings 2-10 3-Point shooting had NOTHING to do with the Lakers defense. Did you watch the game kid?? Are you blind?? Every single one of the Kings 3 Point shots were WIDE open, except for Bibby's off balance 3 near the end of the game and maybe Webber's 3 at the end of the game.

I like watching Kobe play but all the Die hard, "Kobe Bryant is my savior", "I'm nothing without my Kobe", fans here really give Kobe and the Lakers a lousy image. Most of you don't think about any of the posts you make and have a very slanted point of view.

And so far none of you have had the maturity to say the Kings lost the series on their mistakes, not the Lakers or Kobe's play. All you Laker fans should be thanking the King's for your 3rd championship. Period.

ya the Kings lost it on their own image Heck they would have lost it even if they weren't playing the Lakersimage I mean the Lakers had NOTHING to do with it. image It is funny that Kobe had nothing to do with the win because the "Kings beat themselves" even though he outscored anyone on the Kings in the Conference Finals.image but think what you want because the Lakers won image

  • Dude, scoring is not everything. Your Kobe Bryant almost lost the game because he thinks about scoring too much. In the second half and the overtime he finally realized he needs to feed the ball to Shaq and not try to the hero he's not. I was kind of wishing Christie would ease up on the defense and let Kobe continue to shoot, but he didn't.

Kobe shot 10-26. 10-26 is not a good game. Give me anyone shooting 26 times and I'll give you someone who scores 30 points.

You proved my point once again. Think before you post.
