Registry Set Question

I have a basic registry type set (40 coins). I have an 1807/6 PCGS VF large cent that I'd like to add to the set, but I'm not allowed to add that coin by the website. The website states that it doesn't fit the set. Any idea why the rules won't allow me to add the 1807 cent? I already have a 1799/8 Bust $ in the set so I don't see where the over date is an issue.

Your coin may have a different coin number from PCGS than the standard 1807. May not be included in the subset of 1807. Only way to change if this is the case is to call Cust. Service and ask to speak to Cosetta in the Set Registry department. Explain the situation and she may be able to change it if there is no other valid reason. Good luck.

This. That coin should be legal for the set.

Actually, when you are editing your Registry Set, just above the area that displays the items in your set, there is a box labeled "Shop for the Coins in this Set." Just above that are 7 lines of links.

The 6th link is labeled "Report a cert that should match this composite." If you click on that, it will allow you to enter the cert# of the coin you wish to add to the set, and also allow you to select which slot in the set that coin should fit. When you complete that and submit it, it goes directly to the staff that handles the Registry Sets, and they will take a look at it, with all the relevant information.

I have done this many, many times myself, and the Registry staff generally enters the "fix" within a few days.

I got my answer today from PCGS. The coin was denied as it "does not fit the set." Not sure why, but that was the answer. It's an S-273 large 7 over 6 PCGS 20.

It's their game and their rules. Sometimes you just have to move on. I've had to a number of times. image

Totally bogus! It should be allowed, but like someone else said...it's their game.

I would think it is worth a phone call to get an explanation.

I once picked up an error in one of the registry set compositions and sent an e-mail. They were quick to fix it.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

PCGS Registry is probably tired of seeing my emails "All Varieties should be included in Type Sets". Normally with a few days it is "allowed".

Let's see your 1807/6 Large Cent! Small or Large 7?

    Here's mine, Large 7 (S-273) in F12
