seated half dime cud

i have a new image and will replace this one next few days.



saw a couple that are similar but not a match imo.

    I do not recall seeing that cud above the UNI.



    That said, is the coin slightly bent or otherwise damaged in the area between the head and the liberty cap?

    I would have looked (and commented) much sooner had you identified the coin as a half dime rather than a dime. Yes, I have seen that cud. I have two examples, both with the identical cud as seen on your coin, suggesting that the cud occurred as a single catastrophic event, and did not occur as a gradually increasing die crack. It appears to be scarce, in any event.



    I misspoke. I made the above comments from memory, but later took the coins out for a closer look, and saw that they are, in fact, two different cuds, both in the same general area of the reverse. One is exactly as seen on your coin, but the second example is a slightly smaller cud and in a different position, in the dentils above NIT (rather than above UNI). Perhaps this is what you referred to as a "couple that are similar but not a match". Both would appear to be very scarce. Both of my examples are nice EF's.
