Mexico Oaxaca Moreales SUD Undated Medio 1/2 Real added

As I continue to read about and look at SUD coins, a few things are becoming obvious. Minute die variety details are ignored. Bazillions of dies were used, if in time someone is a student enough of these issues to delineate them, he has the patience of a saint. Lyman Low would not do it for fear of overwhelming the reader. •••••••••. So logically then a basic date and denomination set would be most attainable, especially the copper issues. The number of surviving examples is sufficient that the larger 8 Real pieces are easily available (eBay take your pick at least 25 up now). The 2 real coins are possibly close in numbers but fewer are available. As we get smaller, the 1 real copper issues are scarce and more so the Medio, the 1/2 real. ••••••••. The Medio is known dated and also by this undated Uniface striking. I have located auction sale photos and found an exact die match to this coin (unusual in this series). These pieces are small, about 16mm and had the buying power of 6 1/4 cents. It is wholly unknown how many were struck but Morelos said it was enough for local commerce. No doubt many were redeemed, many were lost, many just discarded. A rarity today and no doubt if any of the poor indigenous people who used this coin in 1814 found out how much I paid for it they'd think I was Nuts! ••••••. Enjoy. Undated (1811-14) 1/2 Real (Medio) Moreales Oaxaca (wah-Ha'-ka) SUD Mexican War for Independence Uniface struck. .imageimage
