1963 Topps Baseball

Haven't posted for a while. Like 10 years. image

I couldn't find the old thread but it appears like this set is more popular than ever on Ebay.

Nice to Mariner still posting greats in the '59 thread. Hope all is well with all on here.

    welcome back to posting, Sagard!

The 1963 Topps set is a great set and we can always count on Al to have some interesting pictures, posts and information.

There was an older version of a thread for 1963 Topps so I will see if I can find it and refresh it....worth a try. image

Has the market dictated any premiums on the 11 variations show in the article Bishop posted?

Clearly I'm going to look through cards tonight.

No on the premium. Although the article appeared in SCD these differences have not been recognized by SCD ( except the Davenport), Beckett or the Registry. Whether DPs like these, or all the 60s and early 70 CLs, or the 3 DP high numbers in 52 ( Mantle/Robinson and Thompson) qualify as true variations is an open question. If a true variation is a card intentionally changed by the manufacturer for some reason, maybe not. But if a variation includes differences resulting from an intentional decision about the printing process ( DPs or 62 green tints), maybe.

Since DPs generally exist in equal quantities, another reason for little or no premiums

I think the SCD Standard Catalog lists variations for only three of the 1963 CLs, # 102 and 451 and 509, but because they are all DPs, minor differences actually exist in all of the 1963 CLs
