Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Just want to address something that was posted a few weeks ago.

We had a thread a few weeks ago about this community not being tight. I can't remember the exact wording. However, I just wanted to point out two instances that seem to completely throw a wrench in that line of thinking. The first is the thread helping Mike's family. I didn't win anything or make a donation so I need to do something nice. That single thread is one of the nicest things you will ever find on a sports card message board.

Just think about all the work Stone and Dave put in. Then the unselfishness of so many to bid/donate. Jeff just off the top of my head donated and bought a really nice item. Just a good guy. The guy has a Mantle rookie lifted at the National. He doesn't respond with bitterness but kindness. Just a good person in my opinion.

The second is a personal experience. As most know We opened a card shop. I chose to go with my heart rather than my head. We have gotten at least a dozen messages wishing me luck. Most with their story on how they hope to do the same. I had members send cards to the store. Some to give to kids to grow the hobby and some to just help the store. I can report kids are showing up and it feels like cards are making a surge around middle TN. This week Galaxy sent a sealed rack case of 1989 Donruss and Fleer to the store. We have had probably a half a dozen members of the board show up at the store. Several from other states.

What kind of community has members donate so much time/money and actually show up. My point is we are about as tight as it gets in my opinion. Of course, you have the cynics and the jealous. Fellas, if you don't have haters you aren't doing much.

You dudes are good people/friends with such knowledge it's crazy. If any of you ever need me just let me know. I'm here to help too.

    Nice post, Nathan.
I also want to commend Stone and Dave, as well as all the donors and bidders, in the auction to help Mike's family. That's the difference between doing something and just wanting to do something.

  • Agree. You will have trolls on every forum trying to stir the pot. Ignore it. So excited for your shop! Best of luck

Thanks Nathan for the nice words. I agree that this community is strong. Many of my closest friends were made as a result of this hobby (and this board). I'm happy to have helped mike's family in a small way. I give a big thanks to Dave and Mike- they put a ton of work into the auction(s). This just shows what good-hearted guys are on this board.

Thanx Nathan - also - for the kind words.

Like others here, I'm just a collector and have enjoyed the people here for over 12 years.

I hope to see everyone next year in Chicago.

You all have a way of making my hobby more fun and entertaining each and every day.
