Awesome night at the ballpark

A friend of mine and I have had a partial season ticket plan for the Braves for 6 years or so and each year they send out an email around this time of the year for their season ticket holders to submit for a lottery type drawing for different experiences: on the field passes for the fireworks display, free batting practice experience tickets where you watch the players take batting practice from the field, playing one of the between innings games on the big screen, etc. Well the big one to me has always been the Kids Take the Field where a child can go out on the field and stand with a player during player introductions. I sent back the email this year and, as always, chose that as the first choice. Lo and behold, Thursday night I got an email saying that we had been chosen and since my youngest (he's 12) was the only one of our kids who fit the age requirement Luke got to go out on the field last night. He was selected for center field and got to meet Ender Inciarte. Ender was super nice to Luke and signed a baseball for him (I'm putting a pic of the ball in this thread so I can feel better about posting it in this section image ). Here's some pics:

He even made the Mets broadcast:

Finally, after the game I sent a tweet to Ender thanking him for making a lifetime memory for Luke and he tweeted me back almost instantly. He definitely made a new set of fans in Alabama.

That's awesome, wish we had more of these stories and picts to look at and read. In 1966 I caught a foul ball at Candelstick from Vada Pinson. It was exciting. After the game, we waited a long time, over an hour to see if he would sign it. When he emerged, he refused to sign, wouldn't even answer me or reply, He just jumped on the bus and 15 minutes later the team left. Baseball could sure use more positive news like this.
