Topps Baseball Vending Boxes

I have a question on Topps baseball vending boxes. I noticed that on the top of the boxes that they only stamped "Baseball" on them. But why did they never have a date on the box. Well maybe in later years of vending they put dates on the box.

  • THERE IS A CODE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX
THE LAST NUMBER USUALLY IS THE LAST NUMBER OF THE DATE

The last number in the product code represents the year the box was designed but does not necessarily correspond to the year of the cards within. Don't forget, vending boxes were not intended for retail sale.

And keeping it simple saves money I'll bet also Tim.

They can use the same boxes for years.

the font of "baseball" seemed larger for some of the 1970's vending..... in 1975 they even used a sticker to state "baseball"
