That is a super cool design. I hear "Conan the Barbarian" music in the background.

I'm going to have to dig out the two I purchased from Steve Album, back in 2003.

There's a neat juxtaposition twixt this piece and my icon, or my icon's younger brother. Especially if you think the "wart" above my icon's eye is the sun (like I do).

Yep, it's a really neat design. I have a similar one, with just a dint rather than a hole, bought back in 1997 from a local auction house in a bulk lot of mediaevals and ancients.

For those who may be wondering about the imagery. Islamic tradition frowned upon the making of "graven images" and this usually extended to images on coins, but apparently, astrological horoscopes could be an exception. This is actually a horoscope, of the sultan's wife: the Sun in Leo.

I have always liked the design and plan to add one to the collection one day.

Fortunately they are not terribly rare or expensive

    A real nice coin!

I saw similar images in Samarkand on some of the Moslem buildings in the Registan or town square.
Someone told me that the Islamic code allowed images of imaginary animals but not real ones.
