A few days ago I posted that I had a SGC 9 1961 Kaline All Star cross to a PSA 9. I send in a second sub at the same time I sent the SGC card in. This sub had a mixture of vintage and fairly modern cards. I bought the 1953 Bowman Mantle 25 or so years ago. Several years ago I checked it against other 1953 Bowman cards and saw that it was a little short top to bottom so I figured it was trimmed. I was really happy to see that it graded a 5. Two other cards, 1951 Williams and 1954 Snider were sent in to Beckett around 15 years ago. I wasn't happy with the grades so I popped them out of the BVG holders and sent them to PSA with some other cards. PSA sent both back as evidence of trimming. 15 years later they both graded 6. I won the 1954 Ernie Banks rookie in a set break raffle a couple years ago. I was hoping for a 3.5 or 4 but am happy with the 3. I thought the 1987 Jordan would come back an 8. I thought the 1996 Chrome Bryant had a slim chance at a 10 but a 9 is good.

I think what happened with the '51 Williams and '54 Snider is the cardboard that was trimmed grew back in those 15 years.
Seriously though, congrats. It's always nice to hear positive results from subs.

I was able to snag a PSA 4 Mantle recently and so happy I was. I'm going to work on a Snider registry set. That's a pretty Snider for sure.

The 54 Bowmans are such good looking cards. I never cared for them until 1989 when Bowman came back and inserted 54 reprints on their sweepstakes cards. I've liked them ever since. Good times ripping those 89s.

I just received the cards from this submission today. It was a 10 day sub and it popped on business day 9. When I opened the box i found two cracked slabs, 53 Mantle and 54 Snider. It is kind of odd that the two raw cards I posted scans of here both came back with cracked slabs.

Here are pictures of all of the cards. I don't have a scanner that will scan slabbed cards. The only grades that I'm disappointed in are the two PSA 7 Jordans. All of the vintage cards are cards that I have had for 20 or more years. The Jordans are from sets I put together in the late 80s or early 90s. The Chrome Kobe Bryants are from a chrome set I put together in 1996. Right after the 1996 Chrome came out I found 6 or 8 boxes at a local Books-A-Million. I bought and opened all of the boxes. I finished the set and sold all of the extra cards to a dealer for 50% of what the book value was at the time. A month or so later I found 2 more boxes at a Walmart. I pulled the Fleer Mystique Bryant from a pack in 2003. According to the pop report, this is the only one ever graded by PSA.
