*Unique Cal Ripken Jr. 2131 Game Memorabilia*

Hard to believe that today (September 6th) is the 21st anniversary of Cal Ripken playing in his historic 2131st Consecutive Game (a night I'll never forget!) & while I have a lot of memorabilia from that evening, I thought I'd share just a couple of my favorite items associated from that game.

After the game, the Orioles PR rep gave me one of these credentials that he got from ABC (who was there filming a special edition of "Nightline"). In 21 years, I've yet to see another.

Think I can get this slabbed?:

Another item is this sign which was hung outside the gates at Camden Yards that evening...The Orioles didn't want to mention Ripken by name on the sign since everything associated from that night that either featured him or even mentioned him was subject to "grow legs" (which this obviously did anyways):

Love the inscription that Cal added:

Happy 2131 Day!

I neglected to add this padded folding chair which was actually used that record breaking night on the field. The Orioles added approximately 500 more seats on the field (each seat I believe was $5000 with all the proceeds going to ALS, which were gobbled up quickly).

Over the years I've been looking for one that fit in my budget and I was eventually able to pick one up at auction last February (and no we didn't use it for our Labor Day picnic..ha,ha):

I just can't believe it has been 21 years. Seems like just a few years ago. Where did the time go. I can still remember where I was as I watched that game and cals home run. Thanks for sharing

    You have an awesome collection!

Love that credential. What is the sign made out of? Looks pretty robust.

    Thanks Mike

I actually obtained the sign directly from the person who removed it from the gate at the conclusion of the game. We had an agreement that when he was ready to sell the piece, I'd be the one he'd offer it to......Once it was in my possession, I asked Cal to sign it with a simple "2131" inscription & it was his idea to add the rest (which made me even happier).
