Nowadays if you gave me a list like that, I'd say, "What? No pictures? Pffft! Into the recycling bin you go!"
But back in the day, I used to read every line of text in those TT catalogs, for there was nothing else to read in them.
It got so that friendly male robotic voice over the phone was more recognizable to me than some of my family members' voices.
And I did OK (in fact, pretty well) with most of the stuff I bought sight-unseen on Teletrade in my final pre-internet days.
Can't say that about all my pre-internet mail order purchases.
I really miss Teletrade...got lots of great deals (and few dogs) on that site, especially in the earlier days.

I don't remember Trader Joe's, but boy howdy, do I remember those weekly Teletrade mailers!
Trader Joe's is a gimmicky small supermarket chain (smaller than a Walgreens or CVS) that is located in the western U.S. (perhaps elsewhere?). They have their own store brand for about everything they sell. A lot of the stuff is a bit unique from regular grocery stores. My wife and I believe their quality is low.
I remember the Teletrade ads in Coin World, but that's about it.

Used to do a lot of business with them, buying and selling.
You had to read between the lines: "Average strike and luster" meant overgraded or possibly a dog, "Above average strike and luster, no major marks" was a forerunner of the CAC sticker.
I called them to bid so many thousands of times I can still remember their phone # and my bidder ID.
Anyone remember the frustration of bargain hunting when you hadn't placed any bids yet and you could only inquire about a certain # of lots?

LordM, you jogged a memory here.
When my kids were really little, I had to put Teletrade on speakerphone so they could hear him say "Goodby." They would laugh and laugh. And then, you know how kids are-we'd have to do it ad nauseum.
They also would want to place the bids for me on the pushbutton phone and would actually almost fight for the phone. The things that used to entertain us before the internet....
