Redfield holders

I see that there are black, red and green holders. Are there other colors?

Do the colors have anything to do with a grade? Anyone know?

    If you type in "Redfield" in that box that says search, you will find all kinds of info. I have posted much of it and own 300 of these now. Also, type it in at eBay for even more info on what they are selling for. (In the sold listings)

    In a nutshell:

    Black=MS60

    Red=MS65

    Green=MS65 PLUS (I'll buy them all)

    Make sure it has the word Redfield on the holder. There are some holders that say Redfield with no grade listed at all.

    On a side note, I just bought the holy grail of Red Redfield dollar dates the other day! The tough dates are not the ones you would expect to hear.

    -1878-S

    -1885-CC

    -1890-P

    -1893-P

    Grant at Dalton bought an 1890-CC a couple of years ago in Chicago. I saw it and have a picture. He owns 1 date I don't have and I own 2 he doesn't have.

    Excellent group of Redfield Reds.
    I have been looking for a 78-S in the Redfield red holder for a few years. I haven't even seen one where I might have a chance to get it.
    The 78-S in the black holder are readily available, and I suspect there aren't even any 78-S in the green holder.

    Never saw the 78-S in a Green and that is checking the known list of them.

    The 78-S in Red, I bought from a guy in Chicago sight unseen. He had 13 dates but had that one listed as just Paramount. It was the first and last time I ever came across it. I bought the batch to get the 85-CC, so I did get two birds with a single stone there.

    Very cool info in here. I'll keep my eye's peeled.

    You must be exceedingly careful when buying these. There are similar Morgan's packaged this way that are labeled "Paramount" rather than Redfield. Redfield's were encapsulated by Paramount so it appears that once the Redfield dollars they bought ran out, they just kept encapsulating their own coins instead. The Paramount coins aren't worth near the same premium.

    Green is UBER rare. I haven't even seen one in person and if I do I'd be on it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm with a glass of milk!

    I've seen the Paramount holders and just passed them by. I know of the Redfield hoard and knew Paramount encapsulated them, but I just have not been on the look out for them.

    You will see a green holder more often than you will see some of the Red MS65 dates. image
