1980's baseball stars gaining steam?

Mcgwire, Clemens, Bonds seemed to be picking up a little. Is Sosa, Ramirez, Bagwell, Canseco, next?

Not an area I really know about.

But, my intuition says that as the 70s stuff climbs in price, why not turn to the 80s for those stars that have/will go into the Hall of Fame e.g.?

More affordable? Though I had to pay 50 for a Gwynn 9 centered.

I paid $600 for a 1983 Topps Gwynn PSA 10 a few months ago. That is one of the highest prices on ebay at the time. It is well centered (not all 1983 Topps PSA 10s RCs are well centered) and in a new holder, so I got auction fever and ended up, what I thought at the time, overpaying for it.

Now I see OK PSA 10s sell for around $680 and better examples selling for more. I also bought a 1983 T Boggs and Sandberg PSA 10 around the same time and the market for those has move up as well.

It looks like the buying group maybe moving on to 1980's key rookies!

I think the Buying Group jumped ahead 40 years to 2011 Topps Jose Altuve RCs

I have a Vegas Blackjack Shoe worth of 1988 Fleer Gregg Jefferies rookies. At one time they were selling for $10 each, however I am smarter than everyone else and will sell once they hit $100.

Was just thinking about the fact that HOFers from the 80s are just over produced something awful.

And if ya go to the 90s? I think they're still printing. image

  • Canseco! Lol wish I collected Griffey when I was a kid instead I have over 700 canseco cards all of which are pretty much crap. Early lesson learned = don't put your eggs all in one basket. Glad I learned it then.

  • Haha I totally forgot about Ozzie. That's funny I remember his stuff was actually worth a few bucks back in the day. What a waste!

No Topps 1984 set is complete without the elusive Darryl Plamer card

Tough and expensive 80s Topp sets to put together include the 1982 Blackless, 1984 Encased ( or Head in Box), 1985 Minis ( in blank or regular back), 1988 Cloth and 1989 Big Sucker Heads.

Lol dude your killing me. I had his 1992 topps gold RC in one of those brick holders for years. I thought I would trade it for a Ferrari one day. I still have it!!

Sure. Maybe I can corner the market and then prey on those looking to build PSA 10 sets.image
