What book did you appreciate more the 2nd time you read it

Sometimes we read a book and don't give it much thought and then when we pick it up again we realize how special it is. What numismatic book made more of an impression on you the second time you read it ?

Cornelius Vermeule's "Numismatic Art in America" is excellent on first reading and gets better and better with each subsequent visit.

I had to buy another copy after my first one started to fall apart (after too much use).

Most of my library are reference books. I refer to them often but never sit down and read them. They're like dictionaries.

Souders book is an exception. It tells a wonderful story you can read, and reread, like a novel.

Wore out the bindings in Rick Snow's books on FE and IHC's. Luckily, I now have the electronic issues and that is not a problem. BTW, bindings on the my Van Allen/Mallis morgan/peace book(3rd edition) along with Overton's half dollar book have suffered greatly, only not lately.

All of them are better with each subsequent reading as I seem to learn more each time.
Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

The Cherrypicker's Guide! At first I only looked up the varieties that interested me the most. but than, as time went by, I looked up other coins that I thought I wouldn't even be interested in. Until I checked out the prices, than I kept reading on.

There have been some, but apparently I didn't appreciate them enough to remember what they were to answer this question. image

I guess I'll have to go reread some of my favorites a third or fourth time. image
