1957 $1 silver certificate

I am not in tune with serial numbers-my question is simply this:

Would serial number A00000909A have greater value than A00000908A?

And I ask mainly because one has two different digits while the other has three. This is a real example from the AA block making these within the first 1000 of the new design for 1957

Any thoughts as to value? They are raw, look very attractive and may grade 65 possibly higher

  • If you had it, Beatles collectors would probably find A00000910A the most valuable. Otherwise binary (comprised of two numbers) seem to have more of a cache than 3 random number ones.
  • 909 would have slightly more value then 908 imho

Actually 910 was part of the run too.

Thanks for the responses so far

Agreed. I would pay more for 909 then 908.
  • Interestingly, virtually hundreds of low numbered notes of Series 1957 were autopen signed by Priest and Anderson, and given away to all sorts of people. They are frequently seen and are not that rare at all.
