The annual Golden State Coin Show has a full bourse of dealers, educational exhibits and we're also having an auction in connection with the show hosted by CoinZip.com. Lot viewing of all of the lots, which end Sunday evening, is available at the show and bidding is easy. We also have a couple of members of the Original Hobo Nickel Society with a table and they will be carving coins on the bourse all weekend so be sure to stop by so you can see how that is done.
Also, the NASC received a donation of thousands of old auction catalogs. Many are from Stacks/Bowers, but there are catalogs in this group from all over the World. In taking a quick look, there are some really great catalogs in the mix covering all types of coinage. I even saw several catalogs from the Cardinal Collection sale where the 1794 Silver Dollar was the first coin sold for over $10 million. Several hardcover catalogs too in the mix. The catalogs will be at the show, some piled on tables in the lobby, and there's a table in the bourse with a bunch as well. All of them are available to attendees of the show and please take what you like at no charge... giving them out as part of the NASC's educational mission. But if you do wish to make a donation to the NASC if you find yourself taking a bunch of neat catalogs, it would be much appreciated.
Finally, as Jay mentioned above, we have an awesome gold coin raffle on Sunday at the close of the show. 35 gold coins will be given out in total. Top prize is a PCGS MS64 St. Gaudens, also giving out a $10 Liberty, $5 gold, $2.5 gold, $1 gold and many various World gold coins. All profits from this gold raffle are given to local member coin clubs so it's a great benefit to collectors all over the area.
Please let me know if you have any questions and hope those of you in Southern California can make it out to the show!
See you there,
Mike
