Silly if you think about it

The gold high relief liberty dollar never really sold out- came close I think and they finally stopped selling them. Went for around $1200 if memory serves me. These silver medals have hit the stupid range in prices- its one ounce of high-relief silver- seems you'd be getting a much better investment for your dollar with the denominated gold piece. But, what do I know - I picked up and sold as many as I could and I don't plan on keeping any.

We're mammals crawling around on this tiny speck of dust planet in a random suburb of one of billions of galaxies
and we care about little disks of metal.
isn't that silly?

I don't really understand the post, or your follow up post, I have no idea what you're talking about, even though I consider myself knowledgeable of US coins
(one of the tiny percentage of all the humans who will, like the other participants of this forum, pay more than face value for money)
I'm like, "wai... whaa?"
Anyway, Your thread will probably go more the way you hope/expect if your title reflects the subject you wish to discuss.

I tried, in vein, as did my daughter. Would have loved to get a set. Will now sell my gold, not paying those exorbitant, inflated prices in the secondary market.

I'm seeing the flip potential as more interesting than the numismatic potential. I think unfortunately that this is what the hobby is becoming - those medals won't be worth so much when the hype dies down. It has no denomination as it's simply a medal and it's merely 1 ounce of silver. If it has a value assigned to it like the gold coin I would be a major buyer and keeper. I've played this game for some time now and it seems the coins are only worth a lot in the first few days and sometimes months and then everyone loses interest.
Why would you bother to order any if you don't care for them??

Bob, if you like the gold one, and you are interested in the silver, then why jump to sell the gold? These silver ones may, or may not, come down in the near future (ie...when the next "hot" item comes out). If they do, and get to a level you are comfortable with, then you can keep the gold and get the silver, right?
If not, then you can still sell your gold, right?
I just don't get the hastiness.
Side note: I tried to get some as well, but the site f'ed up at least 4 times while I was trying to confirm the order and, when it finally went to a working status, it was about 8 minutes after the hour and they were unavailable. So, they did go really fast. If I had been able to purchase, it would have been 2 of each. No games with family/friends/other addresses.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I will probably keep the gold for a bit and see where they settle.
Big disappoimtment and not good for the collector, but is good for the dealer/flipper.
I would rather see a lottery than that 5 minute spree. Collectors get ........!
