I like to offer coin advice to non-collector folks who have acquired a stash over the years. Got a call from folks of my parents' generation a couple of years ago, and they gave me carte blanche in disposition of a small number of fairly common circulated type coins, including some common gold. So, via the BST, I did. But one of the coins in the stash turned out to be a scarce Vermont and another tuned out to be a Machins Mills variety of which this would be the 5th known. I hiked it down to Stacks for verification (I'm in CT) and the short story is that the two coins sold for about 12k in their Baltimore auction. (I think it was the March 2014 auction.) Felt good about that.
