Complete 1986 Fleer Basketball set in PSA 10 or wax box, same price

Which is the better investment? I have no skin in the game nor do I think either is a good or bad price. Just putting it out there as a conversation topic.

I would much rather have the set. Chances are infinitesimal that one would receive a psa 10 example of every card from a single box. I go for the sure thing

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think the box is more appealing to me. Less boxes around than PSA 10s. The unopened box is truly the 52 mantle of post 1975 wax boxes. A box should yield 3 complete sets and maybe 4 Jordans. Sure no guarantee there are alot of 10s in the box, but thats the allure. Also the individual packs have allure. Inside one pack could be a PSA 10 Jordan and other PSA 10 cards.

Neither. I would go for something fully auto or 3 and a way to suppress them. image

No question really... the set... all day, every day!

It wouldn't surprise me that you could crack 10 boxes and still not be able to put together a single PSA 10 set. A very good number of PSA 9 sets, for sure, but not PSA 10!

Yep, the set. I would think you could open 4-5 boxes and still not complete a full 10 set.

The set is more fun to look at, but it is simple supply and demand that there can, in reality, only be more PSA 10 sets and only be less wax boxes as time goes on.
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
  • I'd take the set all day every day as well
I'm a big Nolan Ryan fan OK???!!!

As an investment...wax box. Supply and demand...only 2-4 legit boxes come up in any given year. You can find PSA 10's of each card any day on eBay.

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.

Box, IF it is original and intact. You can always put together a PSA 10 set, but these boxes have become increasingly scarce over the years. If you have the money for either, buy the box and then put together the set at your leisure.
