Were these items he bought ... or items he couldn't sell at The National?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Interesting to note the absence of early to mid 70s Topps baseball cello and rack packs.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
man would anyone want to split that 73 topps box with me. Id buy half maybe 1 or 2 others would like the other half?
To rip? Or break open and encase the packs?
Collecting PSA 9's from 1970-1977. Raw 9's from 72-77. Raw 10's from '78-'83. Collecting Unopened from '72-'83; mostly BBCE certified boxes/cases/racks. Prefer to buy in bulk.
I know the '71-'72 12 count basketball box is rare but doesn't that seem way overpriced? Packs go for well under 1k. Even at 1k each does that mean the box is worth 4-5k?

12 pack box for that issue. he was $18K at the national...last year it was $12k

Id be down for a few packs..i wonder if there is enough interest out there to split up a few of these70'sboxes?
I'm up for breaking this box and getting sealed packs. I see three folks on this thread also up for that.

I think the 73 packs would be a decent buy @ around $145 each...we should split up one of those boxes before they are no longer available...certainly at least 12 of us would take a few of these
They listed the rest of the PSA/DNA Michael Jordan autographs from the National on Ebay as well. Great selection.

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
I have noticed that some of the older unopened that BBCE had before the National took a jump too in price when it came back to the site. I see the that the 1986 -89 basketball was updated but I sure hope the rest of the buying site gets updated. I know they have much on their hands getting everything back up. I know it would be harder but I would love to see individual buying pack prices on rack, cello and packs if graded by PSA even if just a little section.
One of the benefits of attending the National as you get to see stuff that probably won't make it through the day before someone purchases that item and prices are cheaper in person verses going back to the site.
Have never seen a blank tray like that one. Correct product code is on the cellophane, though. Personally, I'd prefer the tray with the ads and mail in offers, as the graphics themselves are pretty cool.

Aren't the BBCE prices on the empty wax boxes a little steep? $300 for an empty 1969 baseball box that doesn't even appear to be pristine? I paid $35 for the one below 6 or 7 years ago. I got the near perfect '67 below for $70 around a year ago. Is it believed that prices on empty boxes have risen along with unopened?

Display boxes in good shape are very hard to come by without tears or tabs pulled off. I have looked a while to acquire mine, and for the 1968-1970 boxes $250-350 for a clean box is the norm. The 1974-1976 boxes run $40-80 on average. Here is a photo of some I have acquired. Have some extra 1976's in perfect shape, and some extras of 1968-1970
Dave, the box you show below the 69 is actually a 67 and not a 68.
I picked up three very tough boxes from Steve at the national and although I felt his prices were a little high they were boxes you don't see every day (one is likely one of only two or three known, the other is very tough though not quite as rare and the third one isnt rare per se but is seldom seen in nice condition). Suffice it to say the price notwithstanding I was happy to pick them up and cross them off my list

How about some pics, David? Or at least revealing what the boxes were.

Those prices must be a recent development. I can see the early-mid sixties boxes being more expensive, but I never thought of the '69 box as particularly tough. Out of all the boxes from 1967 up, the most I ever had to pay was $125 for this one.

Tim, you know I like being ambiguous! And besides, you already know what the boxes are but your wish is my command!

What did that one go for ballpark wise - awesome looking box.
The '71 I paid $125 for. But I'm starting to realize I'm losing track of time. I just flashed back to bidding on this box during John Maine's near no hitter for the Mets -- in 2007. Doesn't feel like 9 years ago!
